#1 - thanks to Jason for contributing!

#2 - have to say I'm a fanboy with 14 Cally sticks in the bag. But the fact that Jason is gaming a driver that nobody can get at retail bothers me a little. When the GBB was released, pros were immediately hitting a version with 2 sliding weights that will probably never be available at retail. Don't get me wrong, I know that tour guys have been hitting proto equipment for a long time. But this is two straight driver releases where Cally staff players are immediately playing drivers we will never get our hands on (and they seem to perform better!). Just a little disappointed in that.

I feel you, but I'm hearing it's soo low spin it's like a slider 430cc 8.5* (a driver I couldn't get to spin over 1100 no matter what).

Once I thought about it, I stopped caring.

Has this been confirmed by Callaway that this driver will not be released to the public, or this just speculation? Looking through the pics from the Sony Open this week it looked like a few more pros were testing/playing this club, but its not out of the realm that Callaway would release 5 drivers for this year.

The only reason I ask is another golf website site has it listed as "sub-zero" and shows it on the USGA approved list.

It still would have to be on the USGA's approved driver list for the Tour Pros to be able to play it so that alone doesn't mean it might come to retail but it also doesn't mean it won't.

Good to know, I didn't know there were different lists. I'm hoping that they bring it out or perhaps start a program like titleist's MOTO. If the name is in fact "sub-zero" my guess would be that cg would below the center line, which sounds interesting.

There aren't different lists. If it's on the USGA's approved list it is approved for anyone, professional and amateurs.

Callaway should bring back the Tour Authentic line. Would only appeal to gear heads like us, but it would satisfy the "problem" I referenced above. As the other poster mentioned, Titleist is already doing this with MOTO.

Guys,

Jason will be joining us on Tuesday Jan 19 for a live chat with our members.

Here's the thread. Time is TBD, but you can ask a question now.

If answered you could win a new Callaway XR Driver or Jason's Gore-illa head cover.

Enjoy.

Thought this was pretty interesting considering the topic and timing of the recent change. Go to the 3:00 minute mark.

Why would he mention Jason Gores new Ping G driver with a chrome elements shaft that was just released and he has already left Ping? I find it hard to believe that a touring pro who has access to Pings launch monitor and equipment made available to optimize his distance, could pick up 18 yards in either carry or total distance. Callaway must be awesome!

95+% of Callaway's customers wouldn't be able to hit Jason Gore's driver nearly as well as an off-the-rack R-Flex, and would incur irreparable spleen damage trying. Not to mention property damage.

Notice how much more polite and well-behaved everyone is when there's a star Tour Player in the room? Just the one post, and there's less haranguing, less ridicule of the OEM and any player(s) in question.

Jason Gore is a solid guy. So nice and positive attitude.

I'm confused about his irons. I though he played the apex pro from the balcony pictures but this week appears to me the mb blade. Maybe I'm confused. I hit those blades a few weeks ago. Very good sticks. .

He was working with the Callaway guys on Tuesday on the practice range. Think they made him up a new set of irons cuz he like the ball flight, as well as how they went thru the turf.

Funny I recall him saying the same things about Ping a few years ago..........

... because at the time (two years ago) that equipment was great for him. Two years worth of evolving game, equipment and swing dynamics has a direct impact on what's good for him NOW.

Yeah I played with Jason in the final round of the Southern California Open two years ago when he first switched to ping. We were tied in the final group, but my nerves got the best of me. He told me he wished he had played ping his whole life and something like ping clubs make an average ball striker into a great one. These were things said to me directly from him. Cool he switched to Callaway. They make great gear and really take care of their staff.
