So did he hit a soft alpha or a hard tin cup into 17? That bag is all jacked up and yet I love it.

So his driver isn't "penetrating" or "towering," but his 3 wood is both "penetrating" AND "towering?" It's a marketing buzzword nightmare!!! Sweet set for a unique player.

That is correct.

With no weight in his driver, the flight would be considered "medium."

With two weights in his fairway wood, the flight would be considered... ummmmm... "extra medium"?

Apparently they were at the PGA show in Orlando this year. I imagine they will look very similar to their current iron with the 3 different heads that are currently available. Trapper, driver, digger with more weight added or removed where it is needed. I have not seen them.

Who was it that came out with a one length set back in the late 80s or early 90s? TopFlight? I can remember thinking that it made sense, but they weren't very good sellers.

I think it was Tommy Armour but not sure

Looks like he'll be signing with Puma when he goes pro.

which is kind of a shame really. nothing against puma, i really like them, but seeing some photos of him earlier in the season in Europe, he still had his payne stewart kangol type hat and was wearing a lot of G-fore clothing/shoes. But, from the photos it looks like it'll be your regular tour pro get up.

Same thing I posted on the article for his WITB...

Part of the beauty of golf, for me, is its variety. Watching this guy swing shows me he can be extremely consistent, and he is obviously very good. However, I doubt that he will ever be great. He seems very robotic in a game that requires a bit of creativity and the ability to be responsive. He’ll likely have a long career of steady performances, but I don’t think he’ll ever be able to burn up a course and win majors.

Stampings: Every one of DeChambeau’s irons and wedges tell a story.

  • Gamma is his 3 iron (Gamma is the 3rd letter in the Greek alphabet).
  • His 60-degree wedge is “King” for Arnold’s win at the 1960 U.S. Open and Masters.
  • His 50-degree is “Jimmy” for Jimmy Demaret who won the 1950 Masters.
  • His 8 iron (42 degrees) is “Jackie” for Jackie Robinson.
  • His 9 iron (46 degrees) is “Keiser” for Herman Keiser, who won the 1946 Masters.
  • His 55-degree, “Ward,” is for E. Harvey Ward, who won the U.S. Amateur in 1955.
  • His 5 iron is “Azalea,” because it’s his favorite par-5 at Augusta National.
  • His 6 iron is “Juniper,” because it’s his favorite par-3 at Augusta.

Great info easyyy!!

This instantly puts Bryson's clubs at " baller status" level.. plus at this point he's still an Am so he's playing for "sushi money" ;)

Maybe he can get a side deal with Dos Equis, definitely about to become the most interesting golfer in the world. Love the meanings.

Makes sense. So the tin cup must be his 7 iron.

Awesome and unique. The mystery to me is the 73* lie angle on every iron - can you say UPRIGHT?! The 123g JUMBOMaxx grips must make for a light swingweight. This iron set is like no other and when he turns pro it will be interesting to see what he ends up with in the bag. I don't think we will be seeing any Bryson Dechambeau replica iron sets at Dick's Sporting Goods................ :taunt:

that's about 12* upright. Imagine standing over your 6/7 iron, with your putters lie angle. Yikes

Tommy Armour E.Q.L. Played the 3 wood in early junior days. Actually pretty solid. Tried the irons, got called weird, and since I didn't have the confidence then, I scrapped all but the 3 wood.

That is wild. That driver seems so stiff, especially with he weight removed which would mean it would Flex even less.

Also I really like how he essential goes from a 3 iron loft to a PW loft in 7 clubs rather than 8. I can see this becoming a trend soon among better players sets. It's already kind of happening with the strengthening of GI irons

No his PW has 50* of loft

Look at the pictures of him at address; he is standing very close to the ball and his hands are higher than normal.

He just credited The Golfing Machine with helping him mold his swing and and question things which ultimately led to the SL irons. During his presser at Arnie's tournament he said that his swing is HIS swing and that everyone's swing is their own. He said he doesn't want to convince people to imitate his swing but to question traditional thinking in order to find their own swing that works for them. This is paraphrased.
