I'm totally the wrong guy to asK, given my compulsion to change putters every week, but I see no harm in trying a new grip. I really like Matt's idea, and have gone that route with a few leather grips, but install and remove with air generally.

I'm looking to lay my hands on the new Tour SNSR grip.

That SNSR grip looks mighty interesting.

I thought this grip was genius, with a built in forward press:

Directed Force

Interesting concept. Just another $30+ grip for me to look at.

It's like I fell asleep and woke up to doubled prices. Friggin inflation.

$30 is quite the bargain when attached to one of these babies :taunt:

They don't even give me a mild stiffy.

Give me a Byron, Xenon, Mannkrafted, Machine, or a whole host of other customs first.

I don't understand why they call this a 'blade' putter (along with all the Anser-style putters), when there is ample perimeter weighting. The W/S 8802 style and the Acushnet bullseye are the only real blade putters I know of.

Well, we don't use "woods" either...

I'm guessing that calling them all 'KarstenSolheimDesigned' putters wasn't real popular outside of Ping HQ, so they settled on 'blade'. It annoys croquet purists when we call larger headed putters 'mallets'.

Ha, croquet purists. If I played, I would probable be one. 'I will only use mallets made from the finest ash hardwood from Nova Scotia'...

Good to see you around again Crab!

Fella - The original is a pistol grip style on the mid to smallish side. Wasn't thinking about an SS or any one brand per se, But what has me so intrigued is a bit silly to be honest. On occasion during practice - anytime a sharpie or golf ball ends up momentarily between the palms and the handle - I putt lights-out. Tempting to apply that grip-wrap used on tennis racquets to hold a couple of 10" long dowel sticks on the port and starboard side of the handle! OGA-style!

Will keep the gamer un-mutilated and experiment on another stick. Zing 2i putters are fairly easy to find at a fair price.

Scorecards are la familia. Some serve a purpose - some must be made to go away - some must be "framed". Never be afraid to make your scorecard an offer it can't refuse. :hi: .

SuperStroke only makes one "pistol" style grip, the new Pistol GT Tour. Their whole thing is a constant taper, mostly meaning that the grip doesn't get any smaller towards the bottom, but the Pistol GT Tour does have the pistol bump behind the butt of the club. I'm using one on my Byron at the moment and like it. It's also a "countercore" model meaning it has a weight port in the butt. You can run it empty with just a cap over it and the grip itself weighs 50 grams or they include a 50 gram weight so you can run it at 100 grams. I've got an order in at my local shop for a 25 gram weight, that reminds me, it's been awhile and I haven't heard anything from them....

I see you croquet style'n TTB.

Biff (left) controls his head with a stick following a croquet fight at the 2012 world cup. He is seen signaling his playing partner's (Ronald) choice of the 4-mallet for this shot.

Biff and Ronald are credited with being the first to fashion wickets from under-wire, known for losing their shape after 18 hours, That break through in wicket technology revolutionized the game and brought new meaning to the term "croquet widow".

Following the game both gents were seen in the Grille tossing back a libation. Two-fisted drinker Biff relies on Ronald to operate his head stick, which makes for cracking-good fun when it's time for a spit take.

Count me as joining the superstroke club for the moment. My flavor of this month is a 2.0 added to my Odyssey Black Series #9... my Black series #8 (the 8802 style blade) has been in the bag on and off for 4 seasons and got dropped on sunday after 4 3 putts and a 4 putt. Just bad news right now. Getting handsy. I have made a lot more long putts this year than normal.. but I have also missed a lot more short putts than normal. It's been odd.

I tried the SS ultraslim a couple of years ago but I installed it myself and am pretty sure it was just a bit out of alignment and made things worse. I am a feel putter. I hate inserts. I cant have more than 1 piece of tape under the grip. I like to use my hands and like to feel everything. I think that's some of the car racer coming out of me (like to feel the car sliding and feel the butt moving around in my seat.. drive it by feel and not by computer).... So this is going to be a big change. My first round with it will be this evening. I'll report back on how it goes.

The extra range time and Stu's Swing Tips © seems to have paid off. Shot a 41 (+5) tonight in league play. Net 29 (yes, the HC was that bad). One birdy, nothing higher than a bogey. Very satisfying round, even with two 3 putt holes. (Damn grip). The fellow I was playing against shot very well also, we kind of fed off one another as we were playing. Tempo, tempo, tempo. It's making a difference.

Back to the range tomorrow hopefully. Before the weekly shootout with the buds on Thursday.

When you finally throw that (Damn grip) in the lake, make very sure it's NOT still attached to the Putter!!!!! :busted_cop:

LOL. One thing I was taught by my Father early on, one NEVAH throws a golf club. Have been known to pound a misbehaving club "with authority" once in awhile. Never on a green and always repair any turf damage.

Putters and lakes brings to mind an early introduction to a Big Stu story. One about an old Zing and water. Don't know if he's ever shared it with the Confessioners / Grille'sters before. Don't think he'll mind. If you've read this before, carry on. If not:

Yes thank you Fella. Great story Stuy. You got a very delayed like for that one.

Happy coming BD Fella. Who'd a thunk it? Thinking about Medicare. I'm right behind you with Rad and others lined up like planes at La Guardia waiting to take off to the next adventure.

Wolf is MIA? Hope his golf game or something really positive accounts for his absence.

Still pondering grip "stuff". Would love the "over-size" to be in the width dimension. That flat spot running down the front (12 o'clock) is something I personally would not love giving up. Experiments will occur in time with a reasonable facsimile of the current stick.

The rules of golf (traditional not OGA) sort of amaze me as to what is and isn't allowed in terms of grips. Won't prattle on about it but what is deemed OK and what is not - in general that one sort of baffles me. Then again they've never once called me and asked my opinion!

Matt, that's the next putter grip I wanna try. The GT, I like the pistol grip and counter weight. I'll probably order one soon.

Reasy, besides the Super Stroke GT this is the other putter grip I've been seriously thinking about. Quite a few options, I think they have oversized with the flat top AND it's light weight so you won't lose the feel of the clubhead (too much)

Dammit! I wish you didn't give the answer, cause I got it right! I got up to conversational French in college, where you could not use English during class, and the teacher was a hot young French woman. She actually invited us to her apartment a couple times for an authentic French dinner (pas d'Anglais bien sur)

So first round with the odyssey black series #9 in the bag and a new super stroke 2.0 on it... 8 1 putts, 1 3 putt. 29 total putts. Led me to a 74. Course is 6500 yards with a rating of 71.6 (par 71) and slope of 135.

Oh and I didn't roll a single practice putt. Trunk to tee box.

Guess it is hanging in the bag for a bit longer. Didn't miss a putt over 6 feet the whole round.

Hmmm.....putter grips. Not a ho here. I have 2 Odyssey putters that have the stock

grip still on them. They look like a Winn grip to me. Not small and not big but with

a flat front which I like; helps me square the face at impact.....and goes with my flat

front shorts.

Made me chuckle!! Read/overheard a conversation awhile back about pleated v. flat front shorts. It was said that pleated's were "old man's" shorts. IDK. Immediately went to the closet and "deep sixed" the entire shorts supply. Announced to the Mrs. that we had to go shopping (she has all the coupons) for shorts as I have none to wear.

Same thing happened with athletic shoes. Use to always wear white NB trainers. Pair after pair. Until I overheard a convo by a couple of youngsters while perusing the shoe rack a few years back. One said that white and NB were old man's shoes. That was that, never again will white athlete shoes adorn my feets. They were right though, they seem to be the shoe of choice for.......old men. I notice these things now days.

One week shy of reaching official Medicare age. Hard to wrap my head around that. I refuse to give one inch to this getting old crap, that's for old people. Maybe hit two large buckets today, just because.

What I "heard" is that pleated shorts/pants are for guys with ample tushes.

Since I wore mine off sitting on it all the time I HAVE to wear flat fronts so

the front matches the back. So, if you are endowed with generous cheeks,

pleated is fine. If you have flat cheeks then go with flat front so you don't

look like your tush is on the wrong side.

Good evening Gentlemen,

I have to say, in all seriousness, it is quite nice when one's absence is noticed (I hope that doesn't make me shallow). Either way I think it says a lot about what a great, close-knit bunch we have hear, and I'm very happy to be a part of it. It reminds me of the time I left a party after about half an hour (it was sh!te) and my girlfriend at the time didn't notice. She only twigged the next day when she stumbled home and I was already up, fresh as a daisy, making a greasy fry-up.

Anyway, that aside, unfortunately I have been rather tucked up with work and other family commitments so my WRXTime has been limited. I wish I could say it's because I've been on the golf course, but sadly not. I play so little at the moment, I'm not sure I can even really call myself a golfer anymore! Then again, I shouldn't complain, given Hammy's current plight (stay strong my friend!).

I don't have a whole lot else to report. A note for MC though - "splendidly" is an excellent Anglicism and it's use of often a sign of a good education at a reputable private school, such as Eton or Harrow.

Good move, Fella. My pleated shorts were gone years ago along with the denim shorts. Lol. Yes, at one time they were in style...maybe not on the course...well, at some of the goat tracks I played about anything was en vogue.

Fella, that is one funny story, Full disclosure: I hate pleated shorts / trousers / pants so naturally I commend you on your ruthlessness in getting rid of yours. I associate pleated pants with early 90's golf. Really baggy pleated pants, with lots of khaki and pastel tones. Yuck! I also recall TW wearing them long after they went out of fashion and pretty much until he met Elin. It was pretty clear she had a word with him to sort his wardrobe out and soon after his attire started to improve.

Same here, I like the shaft, grip, and forearms to all match up in a straight line. What I really like about that particular grip are all the markings to help make placing the hands on the club more consistent. The colors are whacky, but I kinda like it LOL
