Clubhouse Grille (*** NO LIV DISCUSSIONS ***) (*** NO POLITICS/RELIGION ***)

I still remember when I first met our Grille bud Bill on WRX. He had and still has the words "just happy to play"

next to his avatar. Those words sum it up for me as well. I would always like to play better each time I go out

but, really, at this stage of life, just being able to play is a blessing.

And it still says it all for me Conrad . Technically, i died twice ...once during the emergency surgery,

and again two weeks later during the donor aorta placement surgery. I am on my 3rd life and believe

me guys when i say it will 100% change the way you appreciate the good, and work around the bad.

Since i recovered enough to start walking again, and got home from rehab,my recliner sits next to

the bay window, and i am there every morning to watch the sunrise poke over the hills. If its cloudy,

i am still there, and giving thanks for every one of them i am allowed to see ! When you guys speak of injuries

and illness, i fully understand what the wishes, hopes, are all about !

@billh17. I knew you had a very serious illness some time ago. But didn't know the entire story. Until now. Continued enjoying each and every day, just as you're doing now. Surveying the morning landscape. And keep counting those blessings. Same for you @Sean2. And of course @Michael C. Good to read your recovery is nearing completion and you're looking forward to picking up a club soon. And posting around here again. Playing at golf is gravy for you guys.

It all becomes 2nd nature to you after you do it enough. I wish golf was like that, lol.

Yes, I would like to play better as well, but if I find myself getting frustrated on the course, I just think about the alternative.

I think I should stick with virtual golf. Our range as Top Tracer Range, and on of the features is Virtual Golf. You can't putt though. What you do instead is have a shot to a target 66 yards away as your putt. Depending on how close you are to the hole determines how close you have to hit your shot to the target. If you have a long “putt” the birdie circle is very small around the hole, and the par circle is a bit bigger. If you are close to the hole, the birdie circle is much bigger. Same applies for pars, bogey’s, DB’s. The closer you can get to the target (a pin 66 yards away), the better chance you have for a birdie, par, or whatever you are “putting” for. There is no chipping, though you might get a pitch shot 30+ yards.

Today I played Pebble and shot a 76 (no mulligans, lol). I also saved $575 in greens fees. My ideal yardage, according to the USGA/PGA is 5200 -- 5400 (or multiplying average drive x 28 comes up with the same). I played the forward tees just under 5300 yards. The longest course I ever played for real was 6900 yards and I hit one, just one iron shot all day. Everything else was driver, fairway wood, wedge, lol. I did break 90...89...so there is that. :-)

There is nothing second nature about golf, lol. @billh17 Glad to hear you can pull up in the recliner and look out the window! I hope you are able to swing a club soon.
ps: I wrote the first part of the above post a few hours ago, but forgot to press "enter".
I don't know how I quoted Conrad twice...talented I guess.

Hells bells bhill, puts things into perspective when you hear this. I thought my problem was bad but it pales into insignificance when I read this, take your time, enjoy the trees, flowers and fresh air. It’s now you appreciate the simple things in life.

That ain't nothing----- Over in the Classics forum last night we were talking about golf balls and I mentioned x out balls but instead of saying x -out I used 4 xs in a row. It ***** that out. It is getting ludicrous over here. I am seriously thinking about saying to hades with it and staying on the other site I frequent

Back when we were posting about the OGA, used Hölle Angels in a post. It was there for an hour or so before the asterisks appeared. Don't know what it means, but was noted as semi-interesting. Perhaps the censoring algorithm was running slow that day.

Wouldn't be the first time there's been a post with a liberal sprinkling of foreign words added. Think I recall Sixty composing an entire post in French once. Sacré bleu.

So I get this email telling me that if I don't pay $1000 in bitcoin my computer will be hijacked and all manner of private information made public...not that I have anything to hide, lol. I deleted it. I really don't get these kind of people who prey on others. If I could, I would reach through my computer, rip off his head and scheiße down his neck.

Scammers are everywhere. Unfortunately most are from far away places and beyond the reaches of the law.

By now you would think people are savvy enough to not fall for scammers but I guess some still do.

Sittin' here watching the Champs tour and see another Square Strike commercial. I love the line where they say

"your buddies will have a field day" if you decide to chip with your putter........perhaps......like they wouldn't if

you pulled out one of those Square Strikes to chip with? LMAO.

I don't care what clubs people use. I use my putter whenever I can over tightly mown areas around the green.

Most of these scams originate in India and the general public is stupid and fall for them. Would not do for me to be in charge because I would give their government 90 days to stop that mess. If not they may not like my solution as in a heavy laden B-52s losing their highly explosive cargo in their air space--- Ya know just saying

You're darn skippy on that one Rad---- I will have that putter in my hand anytime I can get it there around a green. I am also a big fan of the belly wedge and a 8 iron bump and run. I could give 2 hoots less what anyone else thinks and like you I could care less what they do

So yesterday I was at the golf shop. The SW on my irons is E6 and wedges F2. My clubs are +2-inches. I thought of a counter-weight, but that increases the static weight, which isn't the optimal solution. I read a test that was done with SW's and going from D0 to D9 players lost an average of 2.75 mph of club head speed. In addition, it affects accuracy. This might explain a few things, lol.

You have the tall guy problem. I'm sure others will chime in on possible solutions as this problem has been

discussed in here before. I will add this though. I have iron sets with shafts ranging from 130 gram original

steel Rifle shafts to 60 gram graphite shafts. I notice swing weight a lot more than static weight. Seems to

me you should at least try counterbalancing 1 wedge to see how it feels and plays for you. Swing weights

in the E to F range seem awful heavy to me, lol.

There is a U-Tube channel out there called "Scammer Revolts" you might wanna check out sometime. This guy takes on and scams the scammers... and deletes their information. One of the episodes he flagged exactly where they were in the world, and it was about 1/2 mile or so from my hotel at the time. I was laughing so hard at that one I almost died.

I have never played a lighter swing weight. My last set of irons were E6 as well. Maybe I wouldn't notice a difference? I have a very light graphite shaft, if I played a 130 gram shaft, the club would probably feel like a sledge hammer, lol. I don't feel the weight so much in the irons, but I do the 54/58/62 degree wedges, though I rarely take full shots with those clubs.

You're probably so used to those swing weights it might really mess you up to try and lower them at this point. My irons are D0.

E6 would probably feel like a sledgehammer to me, lol.
