What Are You "OCD" About?

Sean2

Recommended Posts

Have to have cold beer and a speaker with music just loud enough so I can hear but not bother anyone else. If I hit the green in regulation I put my putter cover on the green but if I don't then the cover goes on the fringe. Always line my ball with the words reading away from me. Oh and always have clubs in the right spot with clean grooves.

I am totally OCD about my clubs matching. I really have the need for them to be the same company. Because of wallet restrictions I often settle for matching irons with wedges and matching hybrids with woods. Because I have a entirely different obsessions with putters they are often the lone exception.

But I will still be tempted to make everything match!

I have to bring my ball cleaning towel to the green with me. If I forget it in my cart, I will walk 50 yards to get it.

I have to admit. In 30 years of playing I've never played with anyone who has done that. I've heard of it, just never seen it . You're like a unicorn man! :)

I have to have a clean club face at all times...

Clubs have to go back into their correct spot, I hate it when people pull out an iron and put it back in the wrong spot, even if it's their own bag...

Keeping my clubs and ball clean while playing a round.

Ball mark tool on me during the round - to fix a few ball marks on every green (it's fun!)

Tees on me at all times (long and short)

Cleaning my equipment after the round (clubs, balls, shoes, etc.)

I have to have some type of coaster under my beverage after the round....I don't care if it's a cocktail napkin, a paper coaster....even the linen napkins at a finer place...

But, if I don't have the coaster....I'm drinking real fast, so I can re-order and ask for the coaster with the second drink.

And the 3rd.....

And the 4th.....

My golf OCD is:

1. Clubs are cleaned after every shot, including practice swing/s if they swipe the turf. Towel on the bag is always wet lol.

2. My bag is 100% organized ( every club has its rightful place, balls in the ball compartment, tees in a ziplock bag with 2 gloves in the small side pocket, rangefinder and sweater or jacket in big side pocket, pitch mark repair tools and ball markers in separate pocket.)

3. Seeing other golfers with really dirty clubs...Especially course pros. It takes literally a minute or two to scrub a club super clean lol ugh some people.

I have to immediately take any stickers off my shafts after purchasing and rub down with Goo Gone. Drives me nuts and many of my buddies leave their stickers and price stickers on the club forever, doesn't bother them at all.

I do the same thing, and feel the same way.

Just like the "new car" smell, the smell of Goo Gone is the "new club" smell for me. haha

I'm not overly particular about cleaning my clubs during a round, but between rounds, cleaning clubs is a must. Hot water, an old toothbrush, and lemon Joy dish soap. Yes, I'm particular about the dish soap I use. Leaves my grips just tacky enough.

During a round, I am extremely particular about using my headcovers. People who don't use them stress me out...aka my dad. For that reason, it's sometimes hard for me to watch Crossfield's on-course vlogs. USE THE HEADCOVERS, MARK!

Get these -- fits in your pocket and no need for carrying (or forgetting) a towel...

Dimes. I'm OCD about dimes. I always carry about 6 to 8 of 'em in my pocket. That way, when I reach into my pocket, I don't have to fish around for a ball marker. Dimes are best... small, thin and can be pushed down into the green so a ball can actually roll over them without being impeded. There's always a guy in the group who has no ball marker, so I loan him a dime for the day, letting him know it's a big part of my 401K, so returning it at the end of the round is important. I've never gotten a dime back. More important is providing a dime ball marker to the guy who nauseatingly marks his ball with a token bigger than a platter you'd carve a turkey on.

For me it is keeping my equipment pristine. I wipe down my club after every shot, and after the round I thoroughly clean them.

Depending on the weather I clean my grips weekly, as well as wash my golf gloves. When a glove gets to be a bit worn, I use that for practice and the new glove for play.

I also look for golf balls once a week after I complete a round of golf. I don't need any golf balls (I have about 50 dozen), and I also don't need to be fighting with briars, poison ivy and mosquitos. Yet I am compelled to search.

I also clean/polish my shoes regularly.

What are you OCD about...or should I say anal retentive? :-)

I wipe my club after every shot, and clean them when i get home.... some would say that is OCD, but I call it taking care of my things I worked hard to buy.....

Always bring my Italian Sports Drink with me (Pinot grigio, but don't tell the course). OCD in the sense that if I make birdie I get a healthy swig. Par gets me an average sip. Bogey or worse, not a drop. Talk about motivation...

I can't have anything other than tees, ball makers, and a pitch mark tool in my pockets. My ball needs to be marked with a green dot below the label, two dots on a provisional ball. Also, I need to punch a baby before I tee off.

Some of that is true. I'll let you guess which parts.

No phone? No keys? No wallet? Is it always the same baby you punch?
