What Are You "OCD" About?

I cannot even comprehend golfers who have dirt caked on their clubs (mostly irons) from the paleolithic era. I would just spaz if I looked down at such a clubface at address, and yet it doesn't even faze some golfers. I wet my towel 3 - 4 times every round and wipe after every shot, even driver, esp wedges.

Most everything mentioned before plus:

-I golf with my wife on sundays-always get a 1:12 tee time-talk to the same starter. I'm booked for this sunday, 1:12, regular starter started two weeks vacation monday, starting to wonder about who the starter is. Starter thoughts are swirling around

-I follow a number of golf forums. Always in the same order, same topics

I always start my round with my ball mark repair tool hung on my right pocket, and 4 tees in my right pocket, 3 full length and 1 broken (I used to use the broken ones for par 3's, but haven't done that for years, now), and nothing in my left pocket. I move anything loose that is in my eyesight at address, provided it won't move my ball (this includes tees sticking out of the ground, or laying around, or any rocks, limbs, etc). I use a wet towel to wipe and clean my clubs after every shot, and they all go into a specific spot, with covers on (woods, irons, and putter). I take my glove off after every shot, and place it in my back pocket. So, nothing too out of the ordinary, relative to some of the posts I've seen.

Mine has to do with rules, I am pretty OCD about the out of bounds / lost ball rule - which involves re - teeing from the previous shot.

I habitually fill divots. Mine, yours, everyone's. I go through 4 sand canisters a round. It bugs the crap out of me.

A friend of mine was paired with a twosome and noticed one of the guys wasn't replacing/filling in his divots. When he mentioned something to the guy, the guy said, "That's what the hired help is for."

Thugster you would have a coronary if you saw some of my stuff. Now my irons are clean but worn out with rust spots on the worn out grooves. This is on my older stuff. My Callys are clean and not worn yet. And as you know I love lead tape and rusty beat up putters

Sounds like the general attitude of these frigging tourists down here. They do not care one iota. They are here for a week and then gone.

Putters keep the price tags. Headcovers cannot match the equipment. Irons, woods, wedges, putters always different brands. Use new sleeve of balls until I lose 3, then old balls. No iron covers, If round is bad, clubs cannot be cleaned, by me or anyone else. They are being punished. More than 3 three putts and the putter gets a time out behind the water heater in the garage with the spiders. the putter might sit there for weeks, months or even years. (I currently have one starting its 3rd year of time out)

Stu I'm not talking worn or dirty from time, I'm talking old caked on mud that protrudes from the clubface without a doubt enough to send a shot sideways. Actually my ex would let her clubs get like that. Drove me nuts.

I don't keep the price tags because most of my stuff I trade for or find on the scrap pile at work and either keep or trade. Head covers definetely do not match.

Different brands LOL see my signature. I mostly play with used balls but generally play them until I scuff them real bad with the wedges> Putters I have close to 100 mostly vintage (junk in most WRXers minds) Now my irons I have been playing them on and off since 90 and they are worn and rusty and lead taped but they do get cleaned after each shot.

Oh yeah I knew that but you know me I just had to jerk your chain. I do agree about caked in mud and mud protruding as you said. :taunt:

Fun topic! Like an earlier poster, I have to get all those glued on tags off my clubs--I use any astringent I can find, fingernails, nail files, whatever it takes to scrape them off before I can swing them. Don't know why.

Pace of play is a constant--of course I obsess when behind anyone that takes more than three practice swings or stands over a ball for more than ten seconds--maybe seven.

Worst obsession of all is playing behind a left handed golfer. I can play with one (don't have to watch) or play in front of one but simply cannot watch one in front of me--it all seems so wrong--the address, the swing, the ball flight just unnerves me to no end. Fortunately it doesn't happen often.

Oh yeah--old ladies in white straw hats with a ribbon anywhere close--I go full on gestapo when I see it.

Yellow.

Could be the ball, the ball marker, shirt, sweater, hat.

Something with me or on me has to be yellow during the round.

Problem solved. :D

I'm OCD about not holding up play, and letting faster groups through. And I play briskly. Also fixing ball marks. While everyone else is attending their putts, I work like a bartender on nickel beer night going around fixing the green. At least 2-3 per green, + mine when I have hit it right. I just don't understand what the hell is wrong with people.

People pretty much don't care about anyone else unless it's a situation where they can't get away with their actions.

Maybe not OCD, more normal but I can't stand a playing partner who is constantly analyzing his swing...to you. "What I'm doing is coming around and not releasing it. Goddamn! I gotta release!". Nest shot, "Damn it, I didn't get under that one because I bent my left elbow". I'm like, no, you sway off the ball, reverse pivot, throw away your leverage, and flip at the ball, but please just shut up as I am trying to concentrate on what I need to do.

Making sure my garage is filled to the brim with golf clubs of many makes and models.

I don't give a crunch how they are stored, iv'e got them everywhere. Looks like a bomb went off at a golf factory.

Office is full, so is the trunk of my car.

Must have lots of golf stuff.

If that's OCD then i got it bad.

For me, it's how tightly my shoes fit after tying them. I always feel that one shoe is tighter than the other and I'll end up re-tying them throughout the round. It just bugs me.

Ha, never thought of that one, or that it might be OCD, but I re-tie each shoe at least twice during a typical round.
