What Are You "OCD" About?

Tees. Have to pick up used tees from tee box and throw them away or keep them. Or if they are broken but long enough, I take them home, cut them down to a smaller tee with my hedge clippers and use them for iron/hybrid tees. I don't know why this has become a religion for me. I'm not that cheap or ocd otherwise.

Dimes. I'm OCD about dimes. I always carry about 6 to 8 of 'em in my pocket. That way, when I reach into my pocket, I don't have to fish around for a ball marker. Dimes are best... small, thin and can be pushed down into the green so a ball can actually roll over them without being impeded. There's always a guy in the group who has no ball marker, so I loan him a dime for the day, letting him know it's a big part of my 401K, so returning it at the end of the round is important. I've never gotten a dime back. More important is providing a dime ball marker to the guy who nauseatingly marks his ball with a token bigger than a platter you'd carve a turkey on.

Well I guess in your eyes I am guilty as charged I use a poker chip have done so for quite some time now. LOL one of the guys in the Mafia group as it is dubbed is one of the big wheels in the company that owns most of the courses we play on. He calls poker chips "man hole covers" I told him yep they are but that does not stop you guys from selling thousands with the different course logos on them to the tourists. I have a bunch of poker chips but none with course logos. 2 of them came with my Grizzly Dip years ago and one is a $20 off a tattoo at my friends tattoo parlor. I won it off him on some kind of crazy bet years ago and still make it a point to use it when we play together even if we are partners. I found 2 Crown Royal bags full of Tequila Patron poker chips in a junk car at work one day and yes I kept them and the two CR bags too along with the 15 other CR bags I found in the same car

I used to carry a silver dollar just to mark the ball when I played one guy...it always drove him nuts.

On the ball marker topic... I always have both a large and small in my pocket and use the big one further out. I've started carrying a little towel in my back pocket and have to have it and my big towel wet to wipe down my clubs and clean my ball. Also, if there's a game I always carry a back up card, always keep my own score at the very least.

Besides a clean bum before tee off, make sure my naughty bits stay dry. At this age when weight gain and easy sweats near the nether region, a rash from my youth has visited me again, Jock Itch....

Shoes have to be extremely clean before the round. During the round, can't have anything on the toes. (grass / Marks / whatever). I can't swing a club until its cleaned.

Β

Clubs all cleaned before the round. Outfit and shoes picked out the night before. (I play early morning and wife and daughter are not awake so have to be quick and quiet).

Β

Shaft stickers have to be taken off too. Drives me nuts if its still on. Also when my buddies have it on their clubs, makes me want to bring goo gone and clean it up for them while we're playing. HAHAHA.

Β

I think that's it... There's probably more but i don't even realize it..

Β

I agree with this one. I am far more prepped for an early morning Saturday golf round than I am for a workday.

Β

Night before golf round:

-All clothes picked out, ironed.

-Small snack / lunch packed because I hate teeing off starving.

-need to be quick and quiet in the morning to not wake son and wife

-coffee prepped night before with correct thermos

Β

During round:

-keeping pace with group ahead (always keeping track of group behind because I don't want to feel stressed like I'm holding them up).

-ball in pocket on the teebox (for myself or anyone else in group)

-repair at least 2 ball-marks on every green

-pull pin quickly for rest of group

-etc...

I have a few things that I'm OCD about when it comes to golf.

Β

1. I have to clean my clubs after every range session or wipe them down after shots while on the course.

2. I have to keep my bag organized so I know where things are, tees, ball markers, balls, gloves etc all have a place in the bag

3. My clubs have to go in the right slot. I have my bag organized with wedges in bottom slot 9-7 in a lot 6-4 in slot with hybrid 3 wood driver & putter in a slot.

4. Have to put my driver head cover on after each use on the course.

Constantly checking clubs in right slot...even when I know they are in the right slot. Putter, Driver, 3 and 5 (top slot), 4H, 5-8 (next slot) and 9,P, Gap, 54,60 (other slot). Seriously...as I am walking looking for 3 woods and putter in top slot, Hybrid and 4 irons in next and 5 total irons in the other. I probably do this 35 plus times over 18 holes.

One more thing: PITCH MARKS

Β

I played a very nice muni in suburban Kansas City, Kansas (Overland Park GC), and found every green pock marked with the groups' in front of me pitch marks. And these were friggin' HUGE as in I can sip soup from some of these craters...

Β

Is it a point of pride to show the world you don't give a s***?! Infuriating. I am OCD about fixing these pitch marks to create as level a putting surface as possible. Perhaps they do it because they know others behind the will? But some don't, and when they don't they end up destroying the green!

Β

Maddening.

I'm OCD about Tiger threads......can't explain why I can stay away for months

with the obsession of avoiding them and then suddenly the compulsion takes over

and I'm clicking and posting....and I'm adding absolutely nothing of value to

the thread, not saying anything that hasn't been said....and also feel compelled

to troll myself by way of baiting someone who will respond by baiting me back.

Iron covers.

Β

If I'm playing alone and get paired up with someone using iron covers, I absolutely will NOT share a cart with that lunatic. If they're the hard plastic iron covers, I might just have to leave the golf course and hope for better luck next time.

Β

Now don't hold back, tell us how you really feel about iron head covers. :-)

When caddies were not in use, I'll be watching those whom does not have the courtesy of removing the flag when being the closest to the pin and not replacing the pin when first putted out.

Same thing with those whom will not put their cups and dish in the dish washer at work, they're expecting their mother to clean up after them.

LOL. Glad to know I'm not the only golf junkie/guitar junkie in the group. It's a dangerous combo.

Β

The nice thing about golf clubs, is that they make great air guitars. :-)

Β

ps: sorry I never made it up to NH this summer. It just didn't work out. :-(

I'm OCD over my scorecard, and the scorecard I'm responsible to fill out.

Β

Every number is written cleanly, and at the same angle without touching the borders of the little boxes on the card. I keep the card in a holder, and it never gets creased, wet or dirty.

Β

On the other hand, the guy who is scoring me has usually smeared chili sauce all over it and he's half erased a number or two and then rewritten them on top of the eraser rubbings. After that he asymmetrically folds it into a screwed up little trapezoid and shoves it into his front pocket along with the two half sucked out lifesavers.

Β

At the end of the round my scorecard looks like a nightmare from Hieronymus Bosch, and the other guy smears his John Hancock (in kindergarden handwriting) on his immaculate filled out card with a fat tipped blue magic marker.

Β

After I finally calm down, I normally drive home and turn off the air pump in the aquarium.

Huge stickler for crown marks! Not sure why but I just am. I played an M1 5 wood for almost 2 seasons and then one day I just wrecked the crown and gave it a few victory stripes. Ever since I got the mark, I just can't hit it like I used to. Like something larger than just a bit of paint got knocked off. Also, not thrilled about squeaky shoes or when a spike goes missing. And grips that aren't on center. I'm a mess...

Present and accounted for. I'm way more particular with my musical gear than my golf gear.

Looks like you're a P-90 guy so I think we would get along.
