Tiger to PXG?

I think Rory signs with PXG and Tiger continues to use his TW stuff cause no one is interested in a washed up player that will never be in contention on the PGA tour again.

you want to put somethin on that? Because he contended in an event less than a year ago, I think he can do it again

Not sure I'd hang my hat on that. He finished in a four way tie for 10th in one of the weakest fields of the year.

In the last two years he's also had more back surgeries than top 10s....

The theme of this thread is unfortunately a moot point. I am a huge fan of tiger, but I don't see him making it all the way back. He might be able to get his body healthy enough to make it back on tour, but the magic, the determination, and the aura of invincibility, are gone and don't look like coming back. Reminds me of Seve's decline. Sad to watch.

Tiger signing a deal with a company is probably worth 2-3 million in free press alone:) Tiger is a total wild card. Expecting peak tiger is a bit delusional but Tiger who is a top 20 player is somewhat reasonable if the back is ok. Obviously that is a huge IF.

Anyone heard the story of the Ben Hogan company getting a 70 something year old Hogan to come and hit the new cavity back irons in a commercial? This is purely from memory, but sales skyrocketed, like 3x beyond projections.

Who would like to argue that Tiger doesn't have that same power?

Hogan-PXG

Apples=Mangos

The only way PXG gains mass appeal is if they introduce a more affordable option at less than$150 per club. Which they may do, but as of right now they are for they demographic that wears a $10,000 wrist watch.

I am saying this because the only person I know who has them wears a $10K wrist watch. :)

Not that there is anything wrong with that, I wish I could afford both, but it is a limited market.

If healthy easy top 10. If not no play at all.

Edit-disclaimer PS- at this point I am guessing no play at all. Or at best a couple events and done. Hope I am wrong though.

Explains Schwartzel's move from Nike to PXG he knew way before we all did.

(realistic scenario) Tiger Woods will still wear Nike Apparel and probably use Titleist irons and driver probably scotty putter

(what i want to happen) Tiger goes to Puma and uses COBRA like Rickie.. that would be awesome.. or go to TM with his buddy JASON DAY

-- Paul Casey will go to Callaway

-- Rory will go with Titelist or PXG or PING possibly a Puma Cobra setup

-- Brooks i can see going with PXG

-- Finau will look good with TM

SRIXION for all these guys is and should be a huge possibility

Tiger's agent is Mark Steinberg. He's going to get paid for whatever clubs he uses. How much is up for debate. But, he's not going to play Mizuno irons and somebody else's woods and putter. He might not command what he would have 10 years ago, but somebody is going to want to sign him for whatever the market will bear.

Is Tiger really going to attract everyday hackers to pay 3k for a set of clubs? That would be a bad investment on their part.

It would seem that, given TWs physical condition and that of his game, it's the everyday hackers who could most relate ; )

You sign TW, you get huge global recognition overnight. PXG becomes as well known as TM, Callaway etc in one move.

Well known, absolutely, but it's not feasible to expect serious consumer interest in their product at that price point. Making a cheaper product would negate the entire foundation of the company in the first place.

IMO, if Tiger plays PXG clubs, it's because he loves the clubs, not because PXG is looking to capitalize off of him. I have been wrong before though.

Not many people wanted to play Golden Bear golf equipment offered by Jack Nicklaus. I doubt seriously many people will desire to play whatever golf equipment Tiger Woods endorses either.

I don't think they care about signing everyday hackers. Just like Rory with Omega or Tiger with Rolex, that is not an everyday watch for most people.

Standing in the hall of fame..........

I hope PXG will have a less annoying commercial than Omega.....

Just a messenger here and i can't validate the strength of the information but word from a few guys at my club who have played the mini tours and have some "tour buddies" is that Rory has been practicing with a Scotty for about a month.....

again-i am not vouching for this information...just passing along the dialogue from last night....

The strength of the clubs closes the sale.

But TW would drive enormous recognition. Its the marketing side.

Was Golden Bear stuff any good?

Oh, I wasn't implying signing hackers, I am just saying, Tiger playing PXG's isn't going to make a weekend hacker drop ~3K on golf clubs.

Very cool. Just had a Tom Watson flashback. I know for a fact I've seen him rocking that exact same color combo hat. He had the polo to match too--tan body, green color and logos. That was a good look. Solid.
