I think it's a combination of factors. I think they're still struggling with soil composition after the floods in '13. That's mostly leading to fairway issues on the front 9.

This last weekend IMO was due to punching what looked like only a couple weeks ago. The hard part is I really don't know how good they are healed up. I would hope it would just be because of the late punch but I can't be sure. We had the CO National super with us when we played last week and he didn't think they were using enough fertilizer. He assumed budget constraints but he didn't know.

Yeah I have to agree on the greens at Pelican Lakes. Even last year when we played there the greens had some hops in them and that was late in the summer.

I was in the right hazard on #3 by about two inches. The weeds there are shin-high but I only had one to go through. I grabbed an extra club and hacked it out. I then looked at my 9 iron walking back to the cart and it had two dings on the leading edge. One was small/medium and there was another on the toe that had to be 1/4" deep. It was a big gouge and was mushroomed out on all sides. There had to be a sizable rock buried in the ground.

It was bad enough that the machine shop manager where I work said my only option was to file down the mushrooming to at least flatten it all out.

I hope it will melt, but I'm not holding my breath yet. I'm bummed though because a group of us were supposed to play in the World Golf Scramble qualifier on Saturday and they canceled it late yesterday. I booked tee times for Saturday and Sunday in hopes that I'll be able to play one of those days...

I did the same. We're trying to condense our Match Play event into a one-day 27 hole event. It's normally 2-days 45 holes.

Terrible luck on the weather, guys. Sorry to hear all these tournaments are in jeopardy. Is it really bad in the burbs? Here in Denver it's just like it's been raining.

about a month ago I was convinced we would not play Men's league when the weather was like this on Thursday....and it actually turned out to be a nice day.....let's hope that history can repeat itself.

Our courses have already said CPO is they open. Sucks but at least we can play.

Up in Windsor and Fort Collins we've got 2-3 inches of snow still on the ground and its still snowing (~9am) not looking good so far for Pelican Lakes being playable if the NoCo invitation still happens this week.

Yeah, about 4" up north. It was snowing hard all day but didn't start sticking until about noon.

It should melt pretty good but the high is still low 40's today. I'm not sure how Saturday will be. Sunday should be good I'm sure.

Yeah, they cancelled today's round yesterday around noon. They're hoping for a split tee start at Highland Meadows beginning at 10AM tomorrow.

My buddy got an email this morning from Applewood holding a special since they had a tourney cancel - $100/foursome. 8:09 tee time. Sure it will be cold for the front, but you can't beat $25!

My men's league event is cancelled tomorrow. Couples league is looking 50/50. But I have a tee time Sunday so that will help ease the pain a little.

On to a more serious question....for those of you who have a long term putter in your bag....how do you do it? I want a new one every 2-3 months when I'm putting well and every 2-3 days when I'm not. I tried about 12 different ones at PGA SS today and would have left with 3 of them if money was no object

Also why do I only like the $300+ ones? The one bright spot there is that I'm far less likely to impulse buy at that price :)

I had the same Yes! putter in my bag for 12 years. I never thought twice about replacing it. Also, if you want a Scotty, I got one you can have for cheap. :p

My tournament is still a go for tomorrow! Apparently the course I'm playing at (Legacy Ridge) was open this afternoon for play. They didn't have any snow on the ground as of 9:30am this morning. And I'm super excited to play in colder weather, hoping it throws some people off their games, as I actually prefer it.

I've had the same putter since 2002. Not sure if I really know how or why I haven't been tempted to get a new one. I just love the one I have. Whether I putt well or I putt like crap, I know it's not the tool, it's the user. So that keeps me from running out to get a new one after a bad putting round I guess.

44 front 9 (three 3 putts)/38 back 9 (one 3 putt).

Get rid of all the 3 putts, and I would have/should have had a 78. I was even par on 12-18.

Now I really want to get out somewhere tomorrow. Anyone got plans?

Took the plunge on the bear creek trial membership. So far, looks like a golfers playground...

Played highlands ranch from around 7600 today which was interesting. Had 6 penalty strokes on a 79 which I was actually pretty happy with. Had 4 pars on the threes that measure at 195, 283, 197, and 235. I don't think I've done that from those boxes before. Driver swing is still a little shaky but the short game is on point. Game isn't quite there but it's getting closer! Match play starts tomorrow.
