Maxfli U/6 Tour X?

Anyone play this ball and can share their experience with it? Exchanged four dozen Softfli for two dozen of these as I've recently gotten some speed back from problematic back/leg issues - and they're pretty darn cheap. Loved the distance of the Softfli but at that time I wasn't sure I'd ever swing fast enough again to use a harder ball. Hoping they're fairly low spin all around (for a urethane ball anyway); my short game doesn't need V1 style spin.

Driver: Honma TW747 10.5*

Fairways: Honma TW747 15* / 18*
Hybrids: Honma TW747 22* / 25*
Irons: Honma TW-X 6-11

Wedges: Honma TW-W4 54* / 58*
Putter: TaylorMade TP Collection Juno (33”)

Ball: Callaway Chrome Soft (2020)

They're designed to compete with pro v1,1x, Taylor tp, tpx, etc.

It's a urethane 6 piece ball. Yes....6 piece. Hence the name, U/6. Core, 4 mantle layers, and urethane cover.

They are supposed to spin less off the driver for higher swing speeds and more off the short irons and wedges.

I found a non- X version this fall and played it for about 6 holes out of pure curiousity. I played 2 balls that day. Course was slow. Though it was just fine. May have been a hair short off the tee compared to the srixon Z star I was also playing.

Spun on the greens nicely. Was soft enough off the putter. Mid trajectory as I recall. Nothing really bad to say about it, but if you want a low spin ball around the greens this isn't it. They're supposed to retail at 45 bucks I think. Crazy to challenge the big boys at that price. They could probably sell all right at $29.95.

When they were $45, there was usually a bogo deal. Now they are $30/dz. I took advantage of the pricing glitch when they were $22.50 and bogo. I play the tour soft version, ball is clicky but I don't mind. Love that off the putter.

There are threads about the U6. Excellent balls. I sometimes play the Tour Soft version and like it. Even though it's said to be soft it's not overly. The X version is reputed to be very firm.

What's bogo?

It's ok for the price. They are slightly hard and clicky but I have not tried their 2017 lower compression version.

For what it's worth I hated the U6X balls, they felt horrible with my wedges and that's primarily where I judge a ball by feel. Very clickly, felt more like a pinnacle than a urethane ball. The regular U6 seem to be a little better but still not as soft as a pro v or a TMTP

Could not agree more with this statement. Even if you have the swing speed "recommended" for the X, i would say go with the regular tours

Man I loved the U6 soft. Feels great off irons and putter and wedges. I felt like the regular U6 felt hard.

The tour X version of this U/6 Maxfli are more for players with 100+ mph swings (I'm about 105 mph max), but I love these golf balls and they are very affordable. There are two other versions if you need a lower compression option, but the X is scary long off the tee with minimal spin (I've gone 350 before and made it onto some short par 4s with them). Because of the urethane cover, they are soft and spin enough for me around the greens. Today I just bought four boxes because they are on super sale at Dick's. I do not work at Dick's, just like these balls a lot. If you read the fine print (Limited Time Sale: Buy 2 for $35! Must Add 2 to Cart for Discount.), they're the lowest sale price I've seen them yet. Buy two boxes for $35, four for $70 ($17.50/bx):

Wish this would have came up before I loaded up on callaway hex pros. I've played the u6 before great all around ball.

not a bad price. I bought to try them out when they were BOGO @ $30/dz shipped. I'd definitely buy again, if I hadn't stocked up on RZN tour platinum and blacks.

I haven't compared the three versions yet but I mixed the u/6, u/6x and u/6 soft when I bought. I've been getting pretty good distance and spin is fine on the u/6 and u/6x versions. haven't really hit the u/6 soft yet. good value though.

Got these @ 2 for $35 because of this thread. Shot 76 with it today in a match with buddies. Won a few bucks with it. Very firm feel but long and straight off the tee and good enough control around the greens. Good ball for 17.50/dz,

Did I need 6 more dozen golf balls? Not really. Can I resist buying 6 dozen for $85? Not a chance.

Picked up the U/6 regular. If I don't end up really liking them I can give them away as gifts or even return 4 dozen later.

Thanks for the heads up on the steal of a deal!

Played my first round today with the U/6 regular and it really impressed me.

Driver distance was good, maybe 5 years shorter than the 2017XV but it wasn't lacking.

Mid irons shots were same as other gamers I play. Ball pretty much stops near pitch mark on 7 irons and on PW or GW got the ball to back up really well, almost too much.

Pitch shots, the ball really was awesome! I could attack the pin from 50-60 yards and the ball would stop within a foot or two of the landing spot.

Putting the ball was nice. Firm but not too clicky. The Urethane cover is pretty soft.

Only thing the ball didn't do as well as I liked was the back 9 was really windy and the ball seemed to be influenced more than say the XV or B330 when hitting straight into a head wind. Cross wind a little, but not as bad. (I lower spin player may not even notice)

Overall great ball to have in the rotation, especially when playing a course that requires precision shot game control. Might not be a gamer for tournaments, but a very fun quality inexpensive ball.

U4/6 covers get sort of dingy looking more easily than a z star. The Srixons set the standard in durability though so that may not be a fair comparison. FG Tour are same as the U balls, but Duo U seem better. Makes me wonder what balls are made by what factory.

Played both the U/6 Tour X and U/6 Tour today. I like the feel of the Tour better, just a touch softer on full shots. Both work really well for a $17.50 ball. Shot 75 and won a few more dollars off my buddies. I like when the guy paying a Maxfli is beating his Titleist and Callaway buddies.

I find both the Tour and X are long enough off the tee for me (265/270) and have just enough spin to drop and stop on approaches. Good ball for the price.

Yep and I think GG has 20% off $100 today so if they are on sale buy 6 dozen for $14.15 per dozen.

I tried it and it wouldn't apply the 20%. if anyone has success please share.

It seems it won't apply to golf balls.
