I also hate the Raptors for making me believe again. They look awesome.....damn you Raptors!!!!!

They have the same +/- as the friggin Warriors, they are the only top 5 team in offense and defense.

I think of the Cavs....Hill/Clarkson/Hood/Lebron/Love with Nance of bench. I mean that's not the Warriors.....but it's better than the stiffs they were playing.

I mean young guys are gonna play hard and try. The veteran Cavs knew Lebron was leaving and all quit on him.

At least the Cavs might contest shots now, and like, actually try to play basketball. Rodney Hood and co need to prove they are players in the league, even if they know Lebron has already booked his plane ticket. I think Cleveland did well. I also think this was the first time the Cavs made trades without Lebron making them. He is already gone and i think these trades were just designed to evaluate some young guys while giving them a chance to win the East.

The Cavs own pick is not that valuable

Cavs right now are slated for 24th pick.

Larry Nance Jr 27th pick

Kyle Kuzma 27th pick

Chances are you get Kelly Olynyk but you can easily get a nugget.

The most value LALs got is the cap space, they gave up two ballers that bring it every night so I don’t think Cleveland got fleeced.

It’s going to very interesting to see what the Lakers do with Julius. He’s playing too good and is so young, hate to see him leave for nothing. I don’t see how they extend him now, someone will offer a lot of money at 12:01 am and the Lakers will need to wait for big names to make decisions before getting to him.

So do the lakers try and get championship ready at the end of this year or next? I have read they may be waiting til next year, and that free agent class is going to be strong. Also, Klay Thompson's contract is up after next year, does he stay with Golden State and take a pay cut or does he go somewhere else for big money?? I just cant imagine GS paying what Curry is owed, KD, and Draymond and still having space for KT.

I think the whole point of having flexibility is being able to take it when you can get it.... If they strike out this coming year then they will be in even a better position the following off season. No doubt they swing for the fences this off season and maintain flexibility if they strike out.... No Mozgov and Deng contracts will be coming from the brass this off season.

It's just crazy how bad the Deng and Mozgov contracts are, it's almost like Jim Buss did it intentionally.... I love Kupcheck but I can't believe the Hornets would consider him after those two signings.

Mozgoz is averaging 4 pts and 3 rebs in 26 games while making 15 million this year and is still owed another 2 years at 16 million per = 32 mil total still owed.

Deng has played 1 game this year. He is making 17 mil and is owed another 2 years at 18 mil per = 36 mil total still owed.

I am sure these guys could contribute more than they statistically are but still, it's bad.

These along with the Nash contract and trade and Kupcheck really made some bad mistakes his last few years. It's like he just fell apart after the CP3 block (and that was on hell of a move on his part).

Exactly, you never know when the next star will be available. Look at Kyrie this year. They want to be ready whenever it is

It doesn't have to be LeBron or George. Honestly how many years does LeBron have left, especially considering everything you have to sacrifice to get him. I'm not sure I want 36 year old LeBron with total front office control

IT to the Lakers...wonder how this affects Ball for the rest of the year. I know hes been out with a knee injury but whos gonna run the point when he gets back?

I expect Ball to run the offense and for IT to play off ball more. Lonzo does not hold onto the ball much at all, he moves it very quick so I don't know how much it even matters. I think Lonzo can play with anyone and compliment their talents, that is what he does.

Pelinka and Magic have been amazing for the Lakers.... Drafted well, cleared cap space, gotten better, and have more assets since the day they took over.

The most exciting thing about this trade that I'm waiting for is the interaction between IT and Lavar Ball.

Things down the stretch will be really interesting: clearly the new look cavs will the the talk of the town, but there are lots of other things to look at

Does Hayward come back? If he does does it make Boston the favorite in east?

Will Leonard play? Spurs looked good last night against warriors.

How do the beard and cp3 hold up up playoffs? Do they get/stay healthy?

Can d wade to Miami make a run?

I look for a Boston/ Golden State final this year. I think Kyrie will bring the pain the the playoffs this year. He is nasty good and answers to nobody this year. He has shown to be the most clutch player in basketball.

I’d love to see the raptors win the title. It sure ain’t gonna be the blue and gold this year. DeRozan would get the respect he deserves

Watching the Cavs second unit play with a lot of the new guys(Clarkson, Hood and Nance) right now and it’s just staggering the difference in how hard these guys are playing compared to any Cavs unit(first or second) this season. Maybe it’s because they just got traded and it’s a nationally televised game against the Thunder, but it is impressive how hard the younger guys are playing.

Redick was on the Clippers when the Sterling thing happened and was one of the most vocal white guys in denouncing racism overall. I think he has a lot of cred and they are cutting him slack.

Also, Draymond Green compared a league owner with no history of racial issues to a slave master last year and went unfined. So they don't always fine guys. Especially if the media likes the players in question.

Redick and green very popular.

The Draymond Green situation is almost slightly related to this JJ Redick situation - Green didn't use a racist slur publicly, Reddick did. And just to clarify, I'm not calling Reddick racist; I'm not judging that, but he did publicly use a racist slur - and the NBA seems ok with that.

Most Chinese people would laugh at that video.

Is the league ok with Reddick using a racist slur only because it was directed at Chinese people?

I am not 100% sure what happened with the Redick video, just what I have read. Was this some video the NBA made where players were wishing happy Chinese New Year's? If so, why was this not caught and taken out of the video?

If what I have read from JJ and other players is accurate, this is not using a racial slur, at least to me. If he "used a racial slur" Im sure the league would have hammered him and so would all players. Getting tongue tied is one thing and outright saying it is another. If Jeremy Lin, who is Harvard educated, is ok with the explanation, I am fine with it to.

I just think Redick's reputation is near-bulletproof on this subject. I've heard several interviews with him and listened to his podcasts, he seems to be a very liberal (i don't mean this in a bad way, i'm not sure how else to say it) and pro-diversity type of guy. He made several comments during the Sterling thing and was one of the most vocal white guys in condemning it

So i think he in some sense earned the ability to say he got tongue tied and screwed up, in some people's minds.

I used Green as an example because i dont think he's a bad guy. He likes making strong statements sometimes and is a young guy who mostly means well. So i think that is why he got a pass too

I'm OK with it overall. I don't like punishing people who didn't intend harm. I was VERY opposed to the golf channel suspending Kelly Tighlman for example

Ok...so I don’t think it was intentional, but if it was toward black or Latin people do you think this would just be brushed under the rug? Of course it wouldn’t. Could you imagine if he would’ve started to say the n-word and stopped after that on MLK day? In the past it was typical thinking that Asian people were weaker and you can say whatever without consequence. Not saying Reddick should be punished or anything like that but I don’t need some keyboard clown on a golf forum making a blanket statement about my people. Sorry but I’m not the one.

I guess my response would be that if we don't think it's intentional, maybe the best thing to do is allow him to apologize and move on. I really don't think Redick is a bad guy and i would imagine he is genuinely horrified by what he said. I agree with you that if he had used the N word more would have been made of it, though that probably has more to do with the history of the US, which is quite complicated when it comes to those particular races, then it does with Chinese people.

Though i guess the relationship with China is complicated too.

Honestly i wish we'd all just sleep with each other enough to become one race so we could all get along.
