Can Rory Mcilroy balance golf and marriage?

I will reply as this is not specific to Rory but in general. Take a great golfer who is young and has no commitments. That was Rory. All your focus 100% is in golf. Once you add a relationship and marriage that focus become less than 100% - as it should be by the way. Once the focus in life come down a little the golf game will suffer it just depends on how much for each player.

 

Tiger was an anomaly. He always had the laser focus, even in marriage until 2008. Players today do not seem to have that laser focus. Golf is fun and they make a ton of money. Seems social media, branding and off course business is consuming them. Nothing wrong with it just saying.

 

It's not like players before Tiger had that focus. Besides Jack of course. Tiger was just a freak. He had a singular desire to win and was willing to work however hard it took to do that. Not all guys are wired that way.

Kinda what I said. Tiger is an anamoly with his focus and dedication. I think this generation has less of that than the prior guys. Just the way it works these days as athletes make more money away from their field/court/etc so they are more involved in branding themselves which takes time away from their craft. I am not saying that is good or bad just pointing out the differences in my opinion.

It could be Rory's poor golf performance is related to his recent marriage but it's more likely related to his injuries which have prevented him from practicing and playing as much as he needs to in order to be competitive.

Rory had a 6' putt to make the cut on Friday. He missed the hole by 2". He's toast until he gets some confidence in his putting.

For those who follow Rory you know what I am saying is true. I mean come on, giving wifey control of Twitter? Great golfers have total control of mind and body. When you give up some control they want more, that is why he dumped Caroline she was to controlling. Fly to see me play, let's go to Milan, no need to practice Rory, you are as good as Tiger. Good riddins Caroline! Erica Stoll is a good woman, would not say anything bad about her. With that being said, Rory has to learn to balance both or his game will reach a crisis. Winning on tour is hard and there's a lot of good players, Rory has always been a bit streaky. He's not playing well and not playing a ton now. Next year he could win 2 majors and it would surprise no one. It's really too early to suggest anything is causing this more than just him going through a stretch of poor play, like many players have, even top players. Wasn't there just a thread saying Jordan Spieth was an average player who got a lucky stretch? And he won like the following week LOL
