This 100%. Ive been able to build a pretty decent swing through trial and error and the free nuggets from the pros here.

Congrats Dan. What were some things you worked with him to improve?

 

There's a bunch of videos and photos of the changes he's made on Instagram. They are pretty massive and not small tweaks. He used to aim 50 yards left take it way outside, loop it behind him and play big push cuts. Also used to have his head over hisright foot at the top and behind his right foot at impact. It's come a long way and he works very hard at it.

I do. He's not playing college golf. He's playing big amateur events and mini tour events as an amateur until he's ready to turn pro. There's pluses and minuses to his decision, will see how it works out.

What's your proximity to a student of this caliber for a tourney like this? Are you with him at all during this time?

Not this event. He was just home for 3 weeks where I saw him frequently and he just left last Saturday. So I spent a lot of hours with him in the last 2 weeks. I'm in contact with him daily/almost daily but because he's in Europe I don't travel to events often. I was at The Open Championship with him the entire week. Both times he's come home to practice and grind on it he has either finished 1st or 2nd in the first event he's played back in Europe.

 

He's played most of the year on the Challenge Tour and less than a year ago was outside the top 1500 in the world rankings and having me fly over there isn't exactly inexpensive. Im guessing I'll be at more events as he plays more in the US. He lives local though and with technology they way it is I don't need to travel to every event every week. He's a hard worker who stays on task.

yea he's got a pretty solid and simple motion, not any rerouting going on which I like it a swing.

I don't know what's more impressive—the massive changes Julian made under Dan's tutelage, or the fact he was a D1 college golfer with his original swing.

 

If he can play elite golf with his original swing, then by god, I can achieve anything!
