P790 UDI's - Any news on these vs the full set p790s?

Before I spend any more time drooling over the 790 UDI, has anyone heard if there will be a LH version? Or will it by like the M2 LIFT and only come in RH?

Haven’t seen the custom list for it yet but should be some steel options. TM isn’t the best at custom options so I don’t expect a whole lot

For those who may not recall...

 

The original TaylorMade 'Tour Preferred' UDI's were sold at Retail as a #1 (16*), #2 (18*) and #3, 20*, but then along came the RSI TP version of the UDI which added a #4 (23*), and a #5.(26*) model. Despite the RSI in the name, the RSI UDI's do not have the dreaded RSI 'face slots', and aside from the RSI TP logo are actually identical to the original 'Tour Preferred' UDI's, with the same C-Taper LIte 110 stock shaft.

 

However, having said that, I was able to acquire a rare 'Tour Preferred' UDI #4 (23*) head which was only available as a 'Tour issue' head. I then added a .355T C-Taper Lite 110 4-iron shaft, which as mentioned above is the stock shaft for my #1 and #3 Retail 'Tour Preferred' UDI models.

The Hi-Toe has a page on the website. You just cannot order them yet. I do not see a page for the P790 UDIs as of yet. It seems the photos and info are always available before the actual pre-order date.

Putting aside price and offset, is there any benefit to going with the 17* 2 iron vs bending the P790 3 iron down to 17*? For example, does strengthening the 3 iron adversely impact playing dynamics, such as opening or closing the face relative to the 2 iron? Would the difference in offset increase or decrease between the 2 and 3 irons? Is the bounce affected? etc?

 

I understand the need to change the length/lie of a 3 iron if strengthening it to the loft of a 2 iron, but wasn't sure what other impacts strengthening the 3 iron would have versus going with the 2 iron.

Bending 2 degrees strong does sometimes bring bounce issues into play in the 2/3 irons. Sometimes play off the turf is negatively impacted. The offset would be increased in the bent 3-iron, enough to notice? Probably not.

 

The reduced profile and minimal offset is a selling point for me, wish they'd offer it in 2-4 irons. I like the shape of the stock P790 long irons a lot but those slight changes would put it on top.
