P790 UDI's - Any news on these vs the full set p790s?

It's coming! End of March/beginning of April and available in a #2 iron (17°), 40" length, D2 SW with the Project X HZRDUS Black 85. Custom options also available.

 

 

 

 

Hey TaylorMade, is the 105 shaft HZRDUS available that Rory and DJ are using?

 

People's Golf sells it(WillPGA on GolfWRX), but I believe it's back ordered right now.

I mean I get it...the numbers are going to dictate production but I'd even be willing to eat that cost a bit. Meaning, a lefty version of a niche club would cost me more simply because economics of quantity aren't there, and I 100% get it and know that. But for a major OEM to not even offer certain clubs at all, not even for an upcharge?? I expect that from Wilson or somebody, but not the big boys. Very disappointed because I'd gladly toss $300 at this just to have it because I love my regular P790s and think they are incredible. Perhaps I'm being naive and the "real" price that would be passed on to me would be closer to say $600... which I'd likely never pay for a club I'd hit maybe 3 times a round.

Man, so many fast swingers in this thread.

 

My current hybrid (19º) has an 85g stiff shaft in it...so this actually seems perfect for me. Will probably order it as-is, maybe 1/2" short.

Why,

 

I could understand for a full set, but for only #2, the tool costs are limited, not fun for us LH, no apologies for that.

I used to game a tour issue lefty Udi 2iron with tour ad-di shaft. I bought a P790 3 iron and had it bent 1.5* strong and installed a matrix black tie 105 Str flex and WOW.... its a dead straight bee line bomber! Wish i still had my old udi to test head to head on a monitor. But from the limited play so far with the P790 and black tie i have to give it a slight edge. Not sure if its the technology of the P790 or the shaft or just perfect combo. The tour ad shaft would often seem to spin too much and not roll out. The new combo seems like a cannon, a pure one piece feel from grip to impact. I am actually trying to repurchase my old Udi and install the same black tie shaft to see if i was missing out. But us lefties are at a true disadvantage from equipment standpoint. I also game a Tour issue lefty 8.5 M1 and recently 8.5 M2. Ive got will peoples on the lookout for a 8.5 M3 or M4

Ok, as promised I have my first set of comparison pics up against my MP 18 MMC Fli-Hi 2 iron. To my naked eye it's got a slightly thinner top line with about the same offset. Noticeably thinner sole. My P790 3 iron should be delivered tomorrow so will get a comparison there once it shows up. Haven't had the chance to hit it yet.

No you’re right, the 3 iron has a wider sole than the UDI, and the UDI has a teeny bit less offset as well. Same look from the top in terms of thickness though. I can’t wait!
