I don't want their clubhouse if I'm buying Willow Springs. I want MY clubhouse. Seems weird. Am I crazy that 2.8 million sounds kind of cheap? That's a pretty good location.

 

Not crazy, surprised a developer has not bought it at that rate.

 

I dont know the land that well but the satellite views show some bigger houses/land tracts on the course.

Retraction : actually I like that clubhouse. One whole wall of it would be beer taps.

These may sound like tame reactions, but they're as tame as the slight rumble in the ground that precedes a Richter Scale-shattering earthquake. These words are harbingers and premonitions, and in a week's time when the first bloodied players come staggering in to the clubhouse, a few of them will go Full Horschel.

 

Full Horschel is when you become super petulant and blame the conditions for your round, and then pretend your complaints are actually "for the fans." Full Horschel is when you get battered by the Chambers Bay gauntlet and say things like this:

 

"I think a lot of players, and I'm one of them, have lost some respect for the USGA and this championship this year."

So the first groups are coming off the course in the Euro Tour event this week with the shotclock. What I didnt know is that each player gets two "extensions" per round. I like that.

 

Average Euro Tour event round time: 4:48

 

First groups coming off the course this week: 4:08

 

This is not an insignificant difference. Lots of low scores coming in too so its not as if there seems to have been a negative affect on scoring.

Holy cow 40 minutes is crazy. That’s an immediate 15% improvement.

 

The good news is the PGA Tour/USGA might catch onto it in 2034.

I don't actually care about round length. If I'm watching golf, it doesn't matter if the leaders play from 2:30 to 7:00 or 2:00 to 7:00. I'm watching.

I CAN'T STAND watching SLOW PLAYERS. If the leaders are going to be slow you need to fill the gaps with SHOTS from other players. You can not put the camera on Jason Sick Day right after his opponent hits and show him fooling around for 2 minutes.

 

Fortunately, for those of you bothered by long rounds, the shot clock should kill both birds with one stone.

Wish I could play the solstice, but already have standing yearly golf plans committed to for that day. We play on the solstice just about every year.

 

Next year for sure because hopefully by then I can get my buddies to join the Hive.

Yes. The only event where they're not is the 7's in October.

I don't know if you all know this about me but when we got bumped by a bunch of Laotians a week out from my annual event, I expressed my displeasure STRONGLY and we teed off IMMEDIATELY after them.

Anyone planning on attending but not able to be there at the asscrack of dawn? I am down with playing till dark, but with traffic and the distance/direction I’ll be traveling, there’s no way I’d get there for the first tee times. Don’t want to get there at, say 8, and have to tee off solo...
