I root for the Caps but am not a Caps fan and even for me it started to get real dusty in my living room watching Ovi skate around with the cup. There are some great Twitter clips of Ovi walking the Stanley Cup through the MGM last night with his crew.

 

Having lived here 22 years now, you know who I'm most "happy" for? Dan Snyder. Guy has to be cowering in a corner right now. If he puts another 6-10 product on the field this year it could be a disaster.

Wizards or Nats need to win a championship before that happens, I wager. Those two franchises have had their own successes and came up short.

 

Granted, the pressure is on a Snyder to have a respected product that is contending and should be looked at with pride rather than a grimace.

I played hockey as a kid, and used to be a big caps fan. Other than golf (which I don't watch very much of either), I rarely watch sports now. I've watched maybe 10 minutes of playoff hockey all postseason, but watched the entire second and third periods of the game last night. Really exciting stuff. The goal by Smith-Pelly was bonkers. It's fun to see a transcendent athlete like Ovi get a monkey off his back and finally win the cup.

The Smith-Pelly goal reminded me of the famous Bobby Orr goal, except DSP got the shot off when he was actually going down.

 

 

I went to bed soon after the game so I didn't even see them skating around with the cup.

 

I just really enjoyed the Hockey playoffs. The only thing I really root for these days is for Billy Horse Hole to fail and NFL franchises to lose money. But, I was really rooting for the caps. Ovie was so into these playoffs.

I would hope there's a 0% chance of the government shutting down for a day for a 1-2 hour parade but I've been wrong before.

Not a political post at all aside from the two being politicians. Putin is already expected to get a state visit invite soon, and he and OV are close. Just seems like an opportune time to get the group together. Would be a cool photo IMO regardless of the politics.

I can remember last year standing on the 14th tee (short par 4) at TPC Potomac, about 3 feet away from BH. He hit his tee shot and dropped a huge F bomb right after contact. I did chuckle. Usually I'm big into seeing/hearing uncensored athletes, but I couldn't help but think that this dude is the biggest, most arrogant, horse's Word not allowed I've ever seen. His ego was bumping into everyone. He's a grade A d0uch3 bag and he's sooooo easy to root against. Can't believe that jerk won $11M in one day. SMH

Not a huge hockey fan at all, would generally watch a little playoff hockey. Was raised an all-Pittsburgh sports fan. Have since adopted the Wizards after moving to Frederick a few years ago.

 

Gotta say, hard not to feel happy for Ovi and the DC sports community. Happy they can hang a 2nd actual, deserving banner in the now Cap One Arena.

 

Congrats to the Wiz fans, the feeling doesn't come around often.
