On another note, what men's clubs have good reputations and are fun? GVR has taken a turn for the worse this year...ownership of the course couldn't give a care for Men's club.

I've heard South Suburban and Lone Tree take it too seriously and are overly competitive.

I know Seven Dewey here likes the Links, but I think I'd rather play a championship course. Then of course, I know I'd have a good time drinking beers with him lol.

Someone else here is a member of Front Range (Swede?), but I'd like to have a home course to have familiarity and get good tourney rates.

Has anyone heard anything about the Aurora Hills Men's Club or Saddle Rock/Murphy Creek Men's Club? Fox Hollow?

Any others you'd recommend? Ideally, I'd like to stay south of downtown or 30 minute drive from Centennial.

I've heard that SR/MC is ultra-competitive, but maybe not as serious? You could also try Meadows Golf Club. I knew a guy that played there and enjoyed it. How about going back to Wellshire?

I can attest that SR/MC is very competitive... There are two people I play with or did play with out of there given how bad I played with them last time LOL. Both are excellent players and play in all the events. One of them has won the Match play and stroke play championship a number of times. On behalf of the clubs they are asked to do the State club match play for MC/SR. MC/SR won the title last year for the first time.

MC used to have some of the top state players when it first opened, not sure now but I know there are a lot of good players in the club still. One of guys I play with, a few weeks back said he was "barely hitting the ball", all over the place, upset with his game then he goes out and shoots -1 when we played.....

I keep my GHIN out of MC but chose not to play in the men's club because it is so competitive. I just don't have the time to play more then once a week. I only get out to practice really on the early mornings of the weekends.

Meadows is an option, but I hate snakes . We actually just had our interclub match against them this past weekend, and they were some good guys, so that could be an option.

I was never a member of the Wellshire men's club, but that's also an option. I do like that course aside from the nerves I get while teeing off along Hampden! I have seen way too many balls end up over there, fortunately none by me...yet!

All in all, I don't have the time to play enough to be competitive (or the ability really lol), so I just want to have a good time more than anything else without having to deal with self-righteous *****s on the course and the clubhouse. I've been in the clubhouse after a men's club event at the burb and a few of the guys there were pretty ridiculous.

Man, and here I was stoked to get 145 carry out my 9-iron to fly it onto the top shelf of a green at Co National.

How was Co. Ntl playing?

Greens were actually rolling really nice. Some of the tee boxes are a bit beat, and some rough spots in a handful of fairways, but nothing too major. For $40 after 3:00pm, it's definitely worth it.

Also, read a couple pages back that you used to skate. You still do it at all? I used to back in the day, was never very good or anything, but have been trying to get back into it. Got a friend that goes to Wheel Park in Aurora every Saturday morning, that I've gone with a handful of times.

I get out once every couple months. At 44, my body is much more conditioned for golf these days and every time I step on a board my brain starts writing checks that my ankles, knees, and back can't cash. Not to mention the fear that a skating injury may prevent me from getting to play golf...

I live a half mile from the Erie skate park and my firm does a lot of skate park engineering so I get to stay involved in the industry from a safe distance. We've got a few pretty good parks within a couple miles of home so plenty of opportunity to get out there and get hurt.

Give me a heads up next time you're playing up north. Would be cool to link up and skate or play.

I do like those courses, but they're a bit too much of a trek for me unfortunately. Bummer, but I appreciate the input!

Anyone know of a place that has a GC2 or trackman outdoors?

Kind of...GVR has theirs set up in indoor bays that hit to the outdoors. You may be able to step outside the bay to hit from the grass.

Just called up there. They will only do it through booking a lesson, so $100/hr. A little pricey if all I wanted was to use the monitor but I may talk myself into an hour lesson. Goodness knows I always need the help

That's kind of a bummer. They're getting more difficult to work with and are very proud of their course. They used to be pretty flexible and would make accommodations to make something work. Their $90 weekend rates are a bit absurd too. I'm not liking the direction they're heading lately...

Yeah I joined their players club again for that reason...I love playing out there and the club rates are more reasonable. I also get lessons from Geoff Grieg who is back to teaching out there (he was at CommonGround last year) and love their practice set up, but I just work directly through Geoff. Cannot recommend him enough.

It's not south of downtown. But the Legacy/Walnut men's club is great. Having two courses is an absolute plus as well. Both courses are always in good condition and the guys are great. I've been away for the last two years due to having a child.

I might have to look into that for next year. I love both of those courses, and I don't mind a bit of a drive north.

Highlands Ranch has a pretty good group of guys. Our pace of play has gotten out of hand and I actually dropped the league this year because of it. They are sending 4-8 general tee times out in front of the men's club and it just destroys the timing of things. I don't understand how these men's clubs are hard to figure out. No a-holes, play fast, be fun to play with. That's it.

My bad. It was cphrey that was a member.

Honestly, I think that's why I really like FRGC. Yes, the $$ outlay is pretty ridiculous (but still cheaper than GCAT and GWAT), but, as a person who only plays 10-12 times per year, I like that I get to play a different course every time. I'm not sure how I would feel if I pretty much only had time to play at one golf course every year if I were a member of a course's men's club.

The guys (and occasional gal) who play in FRGC are great people. I've never had a bad time in any pairing.

Congrats on the new job, but vertigo definitely sucks. I was talking to someone at our pool yesterday, and she has been suffering from it as well. I guess her doctor said allergies can bring it on, which have been severe this year. That really surprised me, but I guess it has something to do with blockage of the inner ear.

The ENT doctor I saw today says he's seen a pretty large uptick of patients with similar conditions as I have, and it's all seasonal allergy-related. I guess I will continue my battery of Zyrtec and Flonase. Anyways, by Monday afternoon, my vertigo pretty much disappeared (and replaced with typical allergy symptoms--runny nose and sneezing).

I feel good enough to play in Sunday's FRGC event at Red Hawk Ridge. :)

Anyone know of a place that has a GC2 or trackman outdoors?

Call the guys at MetaGolf at Broken Tee, I think you can rent their trackman outdoors.

That's kind of a bummer. They're getting more difficult to work with and are very proud of their course. They used to be pretty flexible and would make accommodations to make something work. Their $90 weekend rates are a bit absurd too. I'm not liking the direction they're heading lately...

I play the CommonGround Men's club, and have for the last few years. Have really yet to meet anyone that has a real attitude, and have had a lot of fun. It was the most affordable $100 to join I think, and $30 per one day event, plus greens fees $45. Super walkable and fun course. Almost all of the mens club walks.

Look I hear you on wanting to play a par 72 for men’s league. I would love to do that if I could find one that doesn’t have all the sandbaggers and BS that goes on in the ones I know about.

I do feel that the Links is getting overpriced for what it is but the reason I stay is that the people who run it have become “friends” for lack of a better term and the course is always in terrific shape. Walnut Creek was the first course I’ve played this year outside of the Links where I could honestly say “wow, this course is in fantastic shape!”

It’s funny that the people in our scramble who were being dicks about us winning despite haveing two women on the team were from South Suburban cause the people at the Links don’t really do that stuff. If someone is doing something they shouldn’t be they get called out and it’s over and done with.

I say keep looking but if you don’t find what you are looking for maybe give it a shot? If you are available when I schedule my next match play event you could get a taste of what it’s like. If you are interested in that let me know

Season has been pretty good so far; my game is okay (handicap down from 9.6 to 7.7 thus far) but I've played poorly in club tournaments. Ironbridge (home course) came out of the mild and dry winter really well; but everything around here it going to be super dry as we start into summer.

Headed down the hill last weekend for some family time (grew up in Denver) and played Raccoon Creek and rode the golf boards; it was super fun and made for a unique day of golf. I found them easy to ride and I liked the ability for everyone to go to their own ball instead of two sharing a cart being tethered for most of the round. Raccoon Creek was in good shape and it's a fun layout which I hadn't played in 7+ years (they have a brand new clubhouse).

Going to caddie for my buddy in the US Am qualifier at Fort Collins CC in July; anyone played out there and have some Intel/local knowledge for me to keep in the back of my mind? Looks like a parkland, tree-lined CC; but I've played no golf in the Ft Collins area so I'm not sure if there are "everything breaks away from xxxxx" or other things to know up that way.

Anyone playing this weekend? I wanna get out either Saturday or Sunday, but have nothing set yet. Might check out Buffalo Run. Haven't played there since February of 2017. Don't really remember it all too well, but $35 to walk it after Twilight.

I played 6 rounds last weekend so I'm pretty sure I'm out this weekend...
