2018 LPGA Volvik Championship May 24-27

Recommended Posts

Darn, Hee Young had a bad second round and missed the cut, thought she was safe :( I'm also sad about Xi Yu still in the doldrums, wish knew what's happened with her game.

I was disappointed The Rocket is trunk slamming too. I thought she's be find and the next time I check she's outside the cut line.

I also Like Xi Yu Lin too....I wish she would regain some past good form.

Looking at stats on the LPGA site and see that Vicky Hurst missed every fairway in round 2. And that comes after hitting only 4 in round 1.

Shot 81-83 for dead last.

Vicky DFL this week....didn't play great last week and won 2 weeks ago on the Symetra tour.

Another example of the wide gap of talent between the LPGA vs. the Symetra tour.

I thought I saw a WD last week? Guessing there must be an injury.

There is a lot of Minjee on the coverage today.

Can anyone explain why Minjee isn't more popular?.....heck....I don't think she has any fanboys neither...no one really talks about her except that she has nice clothes...lol.

Minjee should win an award for being one of the best dressed players on tour! She seems to have a great apparel sponsor and I cannot recall a time when she didn't look her best on the course.

LMAO

So did everyone watch the beginning of the coverage when the pros were warming up before heading out to the course after the weather delay.

I think it's time for Judy to retire.

1) They showed Min Lee practicing on the green and GC shows Nasa's name and Grant thinks it Nasa.

2) After the commercial they come back to Min Lee talking with her caddie in English....again GC shows Nasa's name....at least Grant comes back to say it's Min Lee....but Judy goes on thinking it's Nasa and how some players can speak a reasonable amount of English....lol.....lpga.com just posted a video of Nasa....she can't speak English and uses an interpreter....see below.

Min is standing by her pink golf bag....Rogue driver head cover....Nasa wears a Srixon hat with a Srixon bag.

3) Again after a commercial...... GC actually shows the REAL Nasa....in blue shorts & a blue shirt...Min is wearing a bright yellow shirt.

The GREAT Tom Abbott is covering the BMW PGA Championship and not able to correct grandma Judy.

You can't believe how many times someone has come up to me in a store and/or airport thinking I'm one of their Asian acquaintances.

I guess the next time I see Judy at a LPGA event....I can expect her to say to me..."Hi Hideki...how's the family?" :taunt:

Don't tease me Jodi.

Lol. I thought you swore off the pouty one? Don't fret, you just know her putter will let her down. She's #5 in ballstriking and #1 in total driving, and yet remains winless. Frustrating I'm sure.

It's been a while since we saw Stacy near the top of the leaderboard. Minjee and Stacy are both looking for their first wins in over a year.

Look out for Ariya, though. She's a birdie machine on Sundays.

She's trying to pull me back in.because she misses her biggest and probably only stalker fan.

You're spot on regarding the ball striking stats. Her short game and in particular sand play and putting is her downfall. Because the LPGA doesn't invest in Shot LInk we'll never know if she's hitting 74% GIR but 40 feet from the hole or 25 feet. 31 putts per round just isn't going to do it. She's around 2.3 putts/round on average behind the best on tour so she's giving up about 8-9 shots per round before an event starts.

Good for Stacy. Playing any professional sport while pregnant is a huge challenge.

First thing that happens is your blood volume increases significantly. Makes for loss of stamina and getting winded easily.

She's just getting to the point where figuring out where her body is in space and how much room she takes up changes constantly. Never mind that her center of gravity is in flux.

I can't imagine playing any sport at a high level under those conditions.

Once again the LPGA leaderboard is hopelessly inexact - the rolling scores for the round don't agree with the scores for each hole. Need to look at the scores on the Golf Channel to see what's actually happening.

LPGA's leaderboard is correct, but sometimes it got stuck and not updated.

Make sure to check when was the scoreboard updated.

Why doesn’t someone step in and fix that terrible Volvik commercial? The ball, apparently, helps their plays. The more they use the Volvik, the more improved their plays are. It’s a horrible translation and you’d think that someone somewhere would have raised their hand to point it out.

Driver: TaylorMade Sim2 Max - 10.5*
Fairway: Callaway Epic Max - 15*, 21*, 25*

They should ask Bubba, he could help with the translation #!\@%#?> Ball

Solid win by Minjee, but that was a little too close. After a fast start, it seems she got a bit (too) conservative. Sweet approach on the 14th to set up an eagle opportunity. I think she got a little lucky with her errant approach on 18, but that was a heck of a good up and down for the birdie and the win. 'Nice to see her back in the winner circle.

Great charges by Moriya and In-Kyung. Unfortunately for IK that bogie on the 15th was costly. Moriya was bogie free to go along with her 7 birdies, but was simply too far back at the start of the round.

I have to believe that Stacy was simply pressing to hard at the end, knowing that she needed one or two birdies to grab the win. Ignoring the 17th and 18th, she had a great week.

The course might be set up as a pitch and putt today when GOAT #2's niece shoots a 66. :taunt:

What the heck has happened to Hyo Joo Kim?.....is she hanging out with Yani, NYC and Alison?

Back in 2015, she was expected to be the next great Korean star....she even had a bigger gallery than In Bee at the 2015 CP CWO.

In Bee Park current RR#1, Current Olympic Champion and last week won a KLPGA tournament. I think the Korean players must be so glad she played on the LPGA otherwise these other so called Korean stars of recent years would have mainly been just picking up the dregs of the prize money over there!
