Really not surprised with TM and how they continue to bring out new clubs when the current models are still back ordered on their web site. I for one love mine and don't see changing in the near future.

Just placed an order yesterday when they were back in stock and today it looks like they've pulled it from the website. Guess I'll wait and see what happens with the order :dntknw:

No coincidence the pics are beginning to show up now! Expect to see TM Staffers using these at Carnoustie during the Open Championship and possibly even before that during the Irish Open!

Everyone salivates over it when it was tour only. Gets released to retail, people buy them like crazy to the point of causing month-long back orders for even stock options. Then as late as Sunday 7/1 heads re-stock so certain custom selections are ready for shipment in the same week of order. Then 4 days later, pulled from their website entirely.

 

Just what is the reason for this? So they can release a new model in the fall? At a similar if not identical price point? Where/how does TM really benefit from that?

They don't churn a given model more or less frequently based on how well they sell. They have a strategy (which we may or may not agree with) of everything being replaced on a pretty fast schedule. As it is, was and ever shall be.

 

And they certainly don't wait for some revolutionary new breakthrough. If necessary they will change the color and switch shaft vendors and sell a "new, improved" model with the same clubhead.

I totally understand the strategy of new product roll-outs every 6-8 months. I think it's dumb, but I understand the idea behind creating a semi-constant buzz of new equipment throughout the entire year instead of for one month in Feb/March.

 

What I don't understand is pulling something from their website when it hasn't even been replaced yet. It doesn't appear that they do this with ALL products.

Long wait (2 months for one club) if you go custom, but yea they're definitely still there. With the new color release on the main set I wouldn't be shocked to see orders on these do a slight uptick.

Yep, plus if you get a steel shaft in it the price comes down to $162.50. Nice to save some money if you're gonna throw a different shaft in it anyway.

Any of you guys thought about trying to circumvent a backorder by using a 3i bent strong? There is only 2* difference between the UDI and the 3i, with the UDI having 0.5mm less offset (not even noticeable). So if you bent the 3i 1* strong, and lengthened it, you would essentially have your UDI for cheaper and faster.

I believe the UDI has a slightly thinner face and is a tad longer heel to toe.

Don't seem to be discontinued in UK, just ordered P790 UDi 2 iron today at my Golf Shop. Watched the Pro order it online, and then place the order. Back ordered till August but you can defo get one.....

I did that while I waiting on my UDI. There are a couple of downsides. You already mentioned the additional offset (which is pretty substantial, especially when bending strong). Second is the additional swing weight when playing it at a 2-iron length. I have an $-Taper 125 in mine at a standard 2-iron length (39.5") and ended up with a swing weight of D3.9. Of course, if you were going to go with a lighter graphite shaft, this may end up being an advantage (for comparison, my UDI 2-iron came in with a natural swing weight of D0.3 with a Fujikura Atmos HB Blue 8x @ 40.125").

Well just had a phone call and my P790 UDI has arrived at my golf shop and i only ordered it Monday am.......!!! Looking forward to getting it as fairways like concrete here and can see its going to be a great weapon off the tee.....

I ordered a 3 iron since it already a couple degrees stronger than my current 3 iron... Essentially just a more forgiving 2 iron for me. Hasn't came in yet so we'll see how it goes. Hopefully arrives next week!

I’ve used mine a bunch and it’s been solid. I love mine and it has a x100 in it but have been debating putting at atmos 9x in it like I had in my old udi

Used mine yesterday and it is fantastic, with the ball running as much as it is here with the great weather it is perfect. Used it a lot on the par 5's for the 2nd shot and absolutely ripped it. Its been years since i used a long iron as we all have been told its better to use hybrids, after yesterday i am not sure.... there is nothing like flushing a 2 iron and watch it arrow towards the target....

This club is a monster but it's just as long as my 5w that I love and does not fit the gap I needed. I'll be selling mine (used 1 round) on the BST if anyone is still looking for one.
