Yeah, I get a lot of "take a flyer" books from the 'brary.

If I'm going to buy a book, I do an inordinate amount of research on it first. Or, it's from an author/series that I'm into. . .e.g. I'll get the next Game of Thrones book when it's released, the next Kingkiller Chronicles book, a couple more.

What is the best way to get to WoMan from the Bay Bridge. Google Maps wants me to go to I-495 and up I-270, but would that be best? I was thinking going 32 and cutting over, or even 695 to I-70. I get its Sunday and traffic shouldn't be too bad, but what way is best?

I would say 495/270 is correct, especially on a weekend.

Finally played Westfields yesterday. Work outing/shamble and then we went back out for a replay after lunch. It is in decent condition. Very soft. They must be watering the bejeezus out of it. Like all the courses now, some bare spots in the fairways. Greens rolled good, medium speed. Tons of ballmarks. I don't understand why people can't bend the F over and fix their mark. We played the whites in the outing and for our round. My friend barely hits it 200, so the whites at 6000 yds is good for him. Interesting mix of short and long par 4s. Very enjoyable. I'll definately bang again.

No golf for the next 2 weeks. Busy the rest of this week and leave for Maine on Friday for 9 days.

I hit the best drive of my life a few weeks ago. If I can hit every drive like I hit that one, then also hit my irons well and putt well, the gross competition will be no contest. Be ready.

If the top four are new guy (JM), Sterling, Dom and Fabb, that's a pretty boss foursome. Going to be hard for anyone in the next group to overtake all four of them. If PQ is keeping it in play and makes putts, he has as good a chance as anyone for sure. He can just dominate so many of those holes. But, it just takes one or two shots winding up in the fescue to take any gains away.

In my big events this year, I've been totally schizophrenic so I don't know what to expect. In two day spring medal, I went 72-85. The 85 was really bad weather, but it wasn't THAT bad.

In the CC, I put up a nice qualifying round, then played another one of my worst rounds of the year in the first round of match play. Really depends on if I'm hitting my spots with driver. From whites (and even blues on a lot of holes), I can just take trouble out of play. I know a lot of places where I'm fine winding up in the rough as long as I've taken trouble out of play but that's not going to work at 7000 yards, especially if the rough is up and the greens are firm.

I haven't actually played golf in 11 days, but between now and Sunday I'm getting in some play/practice.

I don't think I've ever played WM from the tips but I could be wrong. Maybe one time in winter with PQ.

Looks like I'll be with PQ, Bayrat, Portivent.

Then, it's Little Ober, Eagle, Jarmo and a blue tee.

Anything can happen on Sunday. There's some serious firepower at the top with TWO plus caps being added to the club this year, and Dom moved into plus range. I feel like I'm playing better this year overall, but it's been a bit up and down. City is playing better golf. PQ is playing better golf. Ober seems like he hardly plays (save for some rounds recently), but that dude has all the tools. Bae is one of the most consistent ball strikers you'll see, so if he rolls a few putts in, watch out.

The course is a wildcard. There's no rain in the forecast. I can tell you from playing it about a month ago, it's firm. Shocker. That 7,000 yards isn't going to be overbearing. The ball was bouncing all over the course. Especially holes where you're hitting to angled fairways, it's going to be harder than usual to keep the ball in the short grass. There are some greens where there are really tough, and really easy pin locations. It just depends where they cut them. I expect the rough to be a pretty minor factor. I think you'll see more dried out grass fliers, and unhealed divots in the rough being an issue than anything.

For gross, I have no idea what the winning score will be. It could be 75, like 2MT suggested to me recently. I know personally, I'd be ecstatic to shoot a score like that on Sunday. But there are enough really good golfers that it's totally possible somebody shoots more around par.

Net will be interesting. I think that course is just so challenging, that we're not going to see really good net scores coming in. Even sandbagger Sully could easily be brought to his knees by that course.

Dom had a funny exchange with Lil'ber on Grint this week. Ober has spent his summer playing EPP and mentioned how fast the greens were, and Dom had to put him in place about how they weren't fast at all. I'm not sure if he was throwing shade or trying to be helpful.

None of those guys in the gross field are short knockers, but WoMan is a course where the short knockers can compete with the big hitters. I don't think hitting it 300 instead of 240 is as much of an advantage as at most places. You still need to be precise, because 300 can land you in a lot of spots you don't want to be in.

when fabb and I were playing Maryland Cup, the guys couldn't believe how fast the greens were at Waverly. I thought they were slow. They were knocking it past the hole while I was leaving everything short.

Green speed is such a relative thing. I hope they're quick at WM. The email we got at the MD Cup at PB Dye said they were going to be fast.

Just making sure we are getting the shade thrown in the proper direction.

I will say EPP greens weren’t slow but green speed is player opinion— like city said

I didn’t get too much of that to be honest. But as most will tell you.. I have rose colored glasses when it comes to courses

The roll out of the putts past the holes is what i loved.

Latest club pro guy tweet is excellent. Not sure if serious, but it's about how he got a cease and desist letter from the Masters about his Yucatan Masters t-shirt.

He thought he was bargaining from a position of strength until the passenger side mirror on his miata was mysteriously damaged.

He has some good t-shirts. . ."Drive for show. Punch out for dough."
