In my mid-30s now and the booze/exercise tradeoff is big. I've been getting fat recently and counted calories a bit. I eat pretty well and would be maintaining or losing weight if I stopped having 2 beers on a weeknight. Two IPAs five nights a week is about 30 pounds of weight per year. That would be totally canceled out if I exercised a few times a week. But it's theoretically a lot easier to just not drink 2 beers than to take an hour and go work out. There will come a time where it's not such an easy fix to remain healthy, so it's stupid not to fix it now.

I've been lucky. I didn't start to really gain weight until this last year. Turning 53 in a month . Only because of an injury and being out of work on WC.

I am confident once I start moving again I'll get back down. Maybe not all 12-15 pounds but a good bit. Not sure why I'm confident!!!

Everything in moderation. I drink. Not every night. Not every week. I eat horrible. Not everyday. I smoke medical prescription stuff for pain. Not a lot. I'm a light weight. My only exercise is yard work. Golf. Which I hope to be back at next season. Hockey coach for HS team. I can stand, skate forward but can't stop. Keeps me moving.

My family genetics tell me I will die of a massive heart attack. Runs deep on both sides. Seems to have thankfully skipped my parents.

GTF :

If a player shoots 74 gross from the black tees tomorrow, does that win?

What's the winning net score. Keep in mind the "net rating" from whites and blues is 72. Normal net rating from whites is 70, but white tee players have been cut 2 strokes (FTR, I think it was a mistake for domes to play whites. He's going to regret that.) So, if your normal estimate would be 68, maybe bump that up to 70.

On the Hive Twitch channel last night, Golfer827 left an awful lot of shots out there, having a +8 on the Devil's Island course. Seemed to have a two way miss off the tee, but his short game really saved him. Then he headed over to post a +1 at St. Andrews, and that's after doubling the 1st hole a la Ian Baker Finch. Went on a birdie binge from 4-7, and had a hiccup on 11. Played great strategy on the Road Hole, took an aggressive line over the hotel, just missed the birdie effort.

Then Bayrat had the audacity to say that my man Golfer827 couldn't beat an 80 net at WoMan after seeing him play Devil's Island. Was he even watching the same feed I was, the guy was on fire!

So we've got a $1 on it- Deadman's gotta shoot a net 80 or lower for me to cash- and he's popping 28.

That's a tough call, but I'd say yes. There's enough firepower that we could easily have one or more players go lower than 74, but that's a damn good score for that course in a tournament.

I'll go with 72 for net.

74 gross won't win it. I'm saying 72, and I wouldn't dismiss someone in that first group going below par.

On the net side, I'm saying 69 is needed. The need to hole out everything is a big wild card at a course like WM though. There are few rounds in a year where I'm not picking up at an ESC 7 or net double. Last year we had a lot of guys throw up an 8 or 9 on a hole.

CR from blacks is 74.7. . .back of the envelope calculation. . .there's at most a 40% chance of at least one golfer going 72 or better. And, intuitively, I think that is a generous estimate.

Winning score gross will be 73 or worse.

I dismiss the idea of someone going under par gross.

The math says this. But it's clearly not actually true. What is the problem with this math? My guess is that beer actually satiates some appetite and/or desire to eat. So if you didn't drink the two beers you'd eat more?

I think this math works MUCH better when it comes to candy.

From what I've read, generally if you're drinking you're also snacking, and the snacks likely aren't healthy. So any issue with the math probably isn't from a decreased appetite. Maybe it's something metabolic. Dunno.

PB Dye is 6750 with a CR of 72.2.

Length and CR mean something. Also, are you sure 71 won at PB Dye? Wasn't that Dom tying Bay? They both shot 71?

That's why I converted to bourbon. I don't snack while drinking bourbon. I also pee less. It's a win-win!

I'm talking about net. I said 72 net, and you said no way.

Sully and CJ were both 71 net last year. I think next best net was 75. The net scores were high.

I'm not saying this is definitely happening on Sunday, but there is precedent. I remember that being a really windy day. I was proud of this score.

If the Blue and white tees on 17 are on top of one another I'm going to be unhappy. That's the kind of shit that makes playing a match at Bethpage almost not fun. Every year the tees are either on top of one another, or 30 yards apart.
