MD/DC/VA Golfers - Twelve Monkeys Mental Divergence

GTW:

Aside from the 7’s, nothing really planned, playing wise . I intend to play the Turkey Shoot, but we all know how that went last year. No real goals to reach, as it would be nigh impossible to try and cut to the mid 20’s in handicap before the end of the handicap year.

Planning on more CSPC ‘s this winter and possibly more playing when the weather is at least half-decent after the holiday season.

I’m sure somebody else has mentioned the camaraderie, etiquette and sportsmanship of the group at the WM club championship.

The highlight was definitely guys hanging out to watch the playoff holes and jumping in as a group to help find the ball.

Is there an easy graphic way to illustrate the shot pattern of Mark Rs playoff shot saga at the CC? I’m playing with the old chap this weekend at Whiskey and would love to remind him about his adventures in the hairy, bushy minges ( British slang).

**GTW:** Actually, have a lot left.

10/5 have a "weird" tournament at the club.

10/6 have the Maryland Cup finals with Fabb at PB Dye

10/20 have the 7's.

10/26 have Superintendents revenge at the club

11/?? have the Turkey Shoot. I THINK I can play in it. Not sure.

Also, trying to set up a "big money" match at the club. Don't think it will be a weekly thing, but for way more than I'm used to playing for. Kinda looking forward to that.

GTW: Really just living it week by week. Younger daughter is now playing on two travel soccer teams (age group older than her lost their goalie to injury) so that's 3-4 games a weekend, older daughter is playing rec soccer for another game every weekend. Basketball tryouts start next week.

That said, one of my golf highlights of the year is always a charity scramble I play in with my hockey buddies -- lots of beers and lots of busting balls. That is Monday. Other than that, I just can't make the mental commitment. With the 7s now off my schedule, only other one high on my priority list is the Hive T'Giving event, given that I haven't made a single Hive event this year

The biggest thing left on my list is a tournament on 11/11. I intentionally wanted something at the end of the year and that's four days before the end of handicap season. I just want to stay in the mode of shooting scores in competitive situations vs. starting down rabbit holes. I'm also playing in the tournament city referenced on 10/5 but that's a hit and giggle. That's a beer drinking day.

I don't think this is starting down a rabbit hole, but I have started working on some shots I need for future tournament play. I plan on spending some time working on those shots through the next several months.

GTW: Headed down to Royal New Kent on Saturday to play 18 (or 36) with a buddy from the Raleigh area. I remember someone (chief?) talking about it a while ago and saying it was well worth the day trip.

Besides that, just the 7's. Always a highlight. And extremely consequential.

GTW:

-Match play final four match with GV

-Match play finals with ???

-Hopefully the 7s on 10/20

-Pinehurst from 10/24-10/27

Hopefully one or two more rounds in there to close out the season with good friends I haven't played enough with. That would make October by far my most prolific golf month of the year.

Then shutting it down all winter to rehab this stupid wrist tendonitis.

I lost the matchplay in the first round, and it's kind of like the hockey playoffs when your team goes out in the first round. Months later, you look around and say "that isn't over yet?"

A few years ago when we did the match play brackets, I got to watch Siegel vs THDC in the final. While it was excruciating to watch them attempt to add up scores, it was a lot of fun. It'd be cool to open up the final match to a mini-outing with some other groups playing and a little ceremony on the 19th hole to honor the winner. I'd definitely show up if my schedule was open.

It was (in May). From what I have seen, the course seems to have held up pretty well this summer. All I can tell you is that on your tee shot on #2: Not as much room right as you might think.

I think the 7s are going to happen for me which will keep the streak alive.

Debating whether to enter the “Course Championship” down here at Chesapeake Hills. It’s 10/12 and 10/19 (18 holes each day), and it’s net on a course I pretty much know inside and out. I feel like I am capable of going low especially as a 13. The loss to HBD is still haunting the confidence levels though, so we’ll see if I can get to the range a time or two before signing up.

Pumped as heck for the 7s!

Do it. You were hitting the ball off the tee so well! There’s at least a stroke or two advantage for me playing you at the course I’ve played 75 times this year.

When your youngest kid reaches 4 things change dramatically. All of the diaper, naps, feeding them, clothing them, etc. has stopped by then. They are little functional beings. Things change. You can practice for 90 minutes instead of 45. Playing in a wednesday night league is easier. Sometimes they hang out with friends on a weekend and if you leave your spouse doesn't have ot deal with anyone. etc.

> We do have some younger dads out there representing in the match play, which gave me hope for my game in the future. All that hope was wiped out by Bae shooting 97 though.

You're joking, but the biggest thing about Bae's lack of bae-ness is that he's been moving this year.

Which, by the way, I'm going to tell you all a funny story because Bae has been negligent in his duties. . .I'll probably get some details wrong.

When he was moving into his new house, he was approached by people who offered him $2000 if they could shoot a John Deere commercial in his back yard. The catch? He wasn't allowed to mow his lawn for a month.

When they park the tractors at his house, they're going to have John Deere security on site. They keep calling him to check on the grass. Etc etc.

If I had $2000 for every time I went a month without mowing my lawn, I'd have a pretty sweet annual golf trip budget!
