the key to enjoying mowing your lawn is not having to push. i have a spot that needs to be pushed. i don't enjoy that.

BUT. i deal with people CONSTANTLY. it's all i do. the opportunity to go out there, put on the ear muffs, and be totally in my own world for an hour is AMAZING. i love it. also the zero turns are kinda fun to ride around.

I'm almost there. I haven't done anything since the club championship on Sunday since I'm sick, but I've got to ramp up again for about a week and a half, starting tomorrow. After that, I'm very much looking forward to inconsequential golf. I'm ready to not practice and grind on my game for a while. I'll still look forward to getting out to play, and doing matches with bros. But I'm not worrying about whether I've played recently enough, or if I'm getting out and working on putting, or any of that stuff.

Mine is smaller than a small tee box. I use a weed whacker. I used to have one of those push/rotating blade mowers but it outlived its life and I didnt want to spend the money to get the blades sharpened.

We actually have a guy who does like every lawn on the block when he comes through. It's $5 a lawn. He probably busts out about 12 lawns in 45 minutes. He does a nice job, though. Edges with a weed whacker, sweeps up the cuttings.

I used to cut grass for a guy in college. I liked it as a job. I don't like it as a chore. I do like shoveling snow, though.

Agreed, riders are the way to go. I have a 2005 White Riding Mower. Its well past its prime- I'm the neighbor you see with the ripped seat, zipped tied on mower guard, and Miller Lite in the cup holder. All I need is a 3 with wings on the mower to complete the redneck mowing image.

Also, MTD discontinued the White line a few years ago. Can't imagine why.

LOL if I could get someone to do it for $5 I would definitely be paying to have it done.

We used to use the "walk behinds" (NOT push mowers). We had one that had a platformed wheel you stood on, and a couple that had a "ski" you stood on. We differentiated them by calling them Tonya, Nancy and Oksana.

In the mower shed, the boss man had this totally p 0 r N 0 graphic picture of a lady on a mower.

A funny thing for a golfer to say, given the general preference among golfers for perfectly manicured courses.

BUT I agree a million percent. I just want my lawn to not be dirt. I want a surface that's not a dust bowl, or mud pit, that my kids can go out and play on.

Personally, I love when the grass goes dormant during a hot, dry period. That just means I don't have to mow it.

The enjoyment of golf -- a sport played on grass maintained as a business -- is completely irrelevant to the decision by a homeowner to have a lawn when there are other options available.

The Safeway Open has a decent field for a late september tournament. Phil, Hideki, D. Shampoo, Justin Thomas, and others.

I'm interested in seeing what Byeong An does this year. You don't seem him much, but he's long, and can play.

He was 17th in SG: T2G last year, 1st in SG:ARG and 182nd in SG:P

In 6 holes today he has 3 putted from 7.5 and 14.3 feet.

Romo shoots -2 yesterday? I know the field is not a major quality field but thats not bad for a guy working a day job. 5 birdies, +3 SG putting. Not going to have much success only hitting 6 fairways but thats still pretty impressive. I feel like in most of these events where celebs are given an exemption we're always watching to see if they can finish above DFL. Long way to go today so I guess thats still a possibility.

Very impressed with Romo's round yesterday. It's not a great field top to bottom, but it has some great players in it. I also love it because these rounds always deflates that "pro worship" balloon just a little. Dude just went out as a +1.1 and beat SEVERAL major winners over 18 holes.

Actually, it probably doesn't deflate that balloon, because you'll start hearing, "oh, well, he's a former athlete" or "he's not REALLY a +1.1" or whatever people need to tell themselves to keep their legends alive in their minds.

I watched the clip of his interview after the round. He said this. . .

"every time (you) play, basically you find out where your weaknesses are and then you just go home and you attack it for months and then you come back out and you gotta trust it."

I love that so much. That's everything to me. That's the game. That's improvement. Go attack it for months, and then trust it.

Side note : his complete lack of sponsor look in the interview is great.

I'm guessing at a minimum he has to shoot even today and probably one or two under. 5 birdies though is a pretty good sign IMO.

In the tour thread, someone predicted 81 today.

I'll take the under.

People really think a +1 is going to shoot 81 out there. I'd say that's unlikely. If you go to the website, it says the North Course is 7100+ (not long) but the scorecard only shows 6800 yards. Even at 7100 yards, you're probably only talking about a rating of 75 ish.

A guy at work goes, "he was 1000-1 to win!!!" I go, "i'll give you 1000-1 right now." So, I'm on the hook for a grand if Romo wins this.

I don't know if any of you DC guys follow the goings on at the Landmark E street, but the original Blade Runner (Final Cut version) is playing there in early November. If that was in Baltimore, I'd be there. I remember seeing it in a theater in like 92, which was probably neither the ORIGINAL theatrical release nor the final cut version.
