Ping G700 with UST Recoil shafts

Very different clubs. Apexes are simply more demanding. Look about half the size and when i tried them misfits would come up 30 yds short.

G700’s are much easier to navigate. I’m not a Recoil fan but game g700’s with the Nippon Modus 105’s and like them a lot.

Thanks erock.

One reason I moved away from Ping was the wide sole. I’m typically a high ball hitter and so worried the g700’s might be the same launch as prior G’s.

Really enjoying the recoils. Just recently switched to graphite due to ailing joints. More so now since I have an indoor setup.

Thanks again!

According to Ping the 700’s are their highest launching ever. Sole width is nearly the same as the G/G400’s. The blade length on the g700 is longer.

Anyone playing this combination?

Currently playing Callaway Apex CF16's with Recoil 110's. I love them but the ho in me is intrigued by these Ping G700's.

Was a Ping faithful having played G5, G10, Rapture, G15 in the past.

Thanks!

I'll give you a slight update once I get my 6i..... Maybe before Friday

Going from the CF16’s, you will feel like the G700’s are massive heads. Make sure you hit they before you buy. A common complaint is that they never feel solid and mis-hits sound terrible.

I've been using the G700/Recoil combination since May; I'm very pleased. Wish I'd gone with a premium graphite shaft when I first changed over from steel several years ago.

Awesome. Thanks Bluedot for chiming in.

Which Recoil's are you using?

The ES that they offer as an upgrade from the stock graphite. R flex (F3), 73g.

mis-hits sound terrible.

Playing the toe on these things? Quit golf, take up tennis or fishing

Even the slightest mis-hits sound terrible. I don't/won't play these as I find them aesthetically horrible, but several people I know have and have gotten rid of them because of the sound. The OP needs to be aware of it since not everyone hits it pure like you do.

True, I generally don't judge clubs on how they feel during mis-hits.....just where they end up.

"Golly that felt so bad, I need forgo my birdie putt....."

To be clear:

The sound of a hollow iron is different. Not good or bad; different. It takes some getting used to, but you learn to assimilate sound and feel into "feedback" just like you did with standard irons. If you are put off by the sound of a club, ANY club, I get that. But it has ZERO to do with the performance of the club.

Disclaimer: If it helped me get the ball on the green and in the hole quicker, I'd play a club that sounded like your granny passing gas. But that's just me...

Just sent pm...selling g700 5i, recoil 110 stiff. Like it but have a 24* hybrid I like, so sort of redundant, don't need both.

Alright got to hit a few balls today.

Yes, that launch is quite quick. But they plane out & carry forever. Don't have distance to compare as I wasn't on the course.

Sound on mishit- it's not a sound, it's a "you hit a crappy shot feel"

Pured it felt outstanding combined w/Recoil & CP2 grips.... I felt nothing!

Can't wait to get in range time & looking forward to 2019

  • 2 years later...

I found a Sand Wedge shafted with the Recoil Smacrap Shaft in the used bin. Took it to the hitting bay and bought it immediately after doing a side by side against my Honma. I went out on Ebay and found the matching Gap Wedge. Traded in both Honma's and some reward points to pick off the Sandy, and the Gap was an Ebay Bargain. I am so pleased I am slowly but surely searching out the possibilities of a 6-PW set with Recoils to fill it out the set, and hang up my Cobras.
