2019 Taylormade Spider X

Just FYI to anyone that has one "customized" to a certain loft/lie through TM website. I'm pretty sure that they put the grip on first and then bend the putter to spec. The problem is, it cockeyes the grip. Both the MySpider and Spider X came with cockeyed grips (that are nearly identical in terms of how they are "off"). Neither are straight and "close" the putter with the grip's flat side facing to about 8 o'clock at address. A smart builder/friend of mine figured it was because they bend after building.

Not a huge deal as I'll just yank off the grip. But, FYI for y'all.

I would say only 5% of OEM putter grips are installed correctly on stock spec putters. Unless you order from a builder the grip is usually the first thing you should pull and install properly. Most golfers don't care or even notice. Some it helps their swing flaws if they grab one off the shelf that is open or closed.

Couldn't disagree more.

I am in the store 5 days a week, putt every day, and try almost every version of every major manufacturers putters and can't even remember the last time I found a grip noticeably off.

Then again, I suppose it's possible I can't tell. :dntknw:

Really? Have you looked the Scotty putters? I dont work at a retail store anymore but when I did I also saw lots of crooked grips come in, specially the Scotty's.

So, does everyone replace the original SS GTR grip with other grips? I kind of feel it's good for keeping the direction but sometimes distance control was a bit uncertain.

I changed every stock grip to a SS with counter core. I’m waiting on Taylormade to post the weights for sale. I like a bit heavier putter, and the counter core helps balance that out. Just me though.

Anyone grab a flamingo that doesnt want it? Been WAITING for thus for weeks and it finally happens when Im working and dont see it lol

They are releasing them on website March 15th. If you read the posts,it shows one person said they think they got one. Everyone else said it showed them sold out in seconds.

I understood it as you pay for it today before they sell out and are available 3/15...

You must be the only one. Very fast! I had everything saved ahead of time and clicked checkout right away when the post went live. I wanted the Miami one.

I saw trotties Instagram post and kept refreshing the TM instagrahm until they went live. Boring conference call for the win.

I showed up two hours early for my men's club tournament today so I was killing time in the pro shop when I saw they had a few of the X's on the shelf. Checked my sweeps balance and had more in my account than I thought. Ended up pulling the trigger on a copper with full white alignment. Took it out to the practice green and immediately remembered why I disliked the Pistol GT grip. That ridge on the back just puts my hands in a weird spot making it hard to square the putter comfortably. Had the shop swap the grip from my other putter (Tour SNSR pistol)... much better.

Had a very good day putting! Hopefully its not just the honeymoon phase, but I think this is one of the best putters I've rolled in years. As long as the paint holds up it will be in my bag for a good long run. I will probably add the heavier weights when they are released to see how it feels.

The stock head cover may not be the most attractive but it is a quality piece either way. Very cushy and padded and feels like it protects the head well. No way I'm paying $100 for some crazy limited edition cover. I paid $20 shipped for my TM Augusta blade cover from last year, the brown quilted one with the green piping and peaches inside. If I come across a deal like that maybe, but otherwise I'm good with the big copper colored X staring at me.

Love how the lines with the Putt Out setup work with the new visual aid on top off the X

That’s funny I literally just got one of these off amazon for this reason.

Is it just me or does that look like the alignment line on the X is pointed left?

Face isn’t square to the lines on the board.

Check the space between face and alignment on puttout board.

For sure

One handed photo to keep me out of the shot

Took it 3 times too

When you worked at the store and saw the issues did you remedy the situation before putting them out on the floor ?
