I did the math using shot tracking and a SGP calculator. Tiger is +1.17 this week. Rory is -2.95

The reality is Rory’s not a “terrible” putter or one of the best putters either. What the objective facts show is this season he’s ranked 57th which is his 2nd best ever season in putting. And while Tiger is currently putting better than Rory in this event, Tiger is still only ranked #74th in putting over the season. Those are just the facts.

 

And Tiger making long bomb putts doesn’t hide all his short missed putts. But he’s playing overall very well which is reflected in his scores.

I watched the replay last night and didn't see too much of Tiger, but as I was making pimento cheese sandwiches I heard Chamblab say twice that Tiger has been wild off the tee the first two rounds (well "wild" and "wilder" than some others). Seems to me his driving has been really, really good from what I've seen the first two rounds. What the heck why invoke "wild" (he says preaching to the choir)?

It has mostly been good. He made birdie twice on 14 from wild ones and again on nine Thursday, so who cares about a few off the mark
