What set would you buy under 500 right now

Been looking to replace my TM 2014 Mc. I have tried many sets but nothing seems to stay in the bag very long. I am a solid player so for me it is about feel and workability. My current set has KBS your shafts. That is basically the shaft I look for when trying new sets other than DG s300. I would like to get as close to mint as possible

Suggest you look at Maltby iron sets. Get shaft and grip you like and custom fitted for approx. $500.

I think the Bridgestone Tour B X-CBPs are a great deal right now. You can grab a new set (5-PW) with KBS $ Tapers for $429 on EBay.

that's what I just did, but grabbed a stiff set. If you are XS def deals to be had.

spend the 5 bones on a real fitting then save up for a set built to your specs

Or spend +/- $350 bones on a real set of irons, then do the work yourself to fit for correct length and grip. Chances are the OEM doesn't hit the mark on Loft/Lie anyway, so you'll have to pay for that unless you can do it yourself?

JPX 900 Tour - I have a set with Project X LZ 6.0 that have been in my bag for a while now. Absolutely love them.

 

Also have a set with KBS Tour 120 Stiff that I'm selling. Not mint, but in very good used condition.

I do it all myself but it cost me a small fortune to equip a home shop. A lot of fitting services like loft, lie, swing weight, length, shaft weight, grip diameter, bend profile of the shaft, etc. - sure they can be done at home through trial and error, but I think it's well worth it to see an expert that can see your numbers and extrapolate what works for you.

 

Most folks don't have that exotic of needs and it's not very expensive to have a shop adjust the loft and lie of your iron set.
