Looking for a swing coach in DFW. Cant get lessons with McMillan or Sinclair or Crown golf, all turned me down because they are too busy. What a time to be a golf pro.

The Tribute was very nice today.  Played as a twosome in under 3 hours and would have been faster if a group did not jump in front us us at 10.

Sky Creek is an excellent shape. Then what do they do, punch the greens. Not the micro punch but the old school craters. They get the course in beautiful shape then punch the dang greens.

Sucks, but this time of the year is when Bermuda grows. Unless it's hot day and night, it's not going to grow and recover. If they don't do the big punch now, they will suck next year. It sucks for you, but it sucks worse for the guy working a full day making next to nothing, then staying all night working under the construction lights all night punching the greens, shoveling all the plugs off, then working all day the next day without going home.

I have a read  that the big punch is unnecessary in the year 2022. 

 

This is prime golf season and you cut the season down by at least 2 weeks when the course is in prime shape? 

 

I am not sure what the guys working on the course has anything to do with it. If you do not like your job find another one. 

 

Maybe good for both no need to punch craters into the green anymore.

Big punch is necessary. We agree that it sucks. With bermuda, you can only do it when it is growing, which is right now. And trust me, the turf managers love their job, but the crew doesn't have much of an option to find another job. And they are sending as much of what they are making back to family in another country. This is why I argue that bentgrass is better in DFW. Big punch is in March when Bent is growing, and you can do the smaller punches that don't affect play this time of year, and be back to normal within a week, not weeks.

So the greens are back to a nice level again?  Last time out they were spongy and the fairways were not that great either.

It still amazes my how much play Pecan Hollow gets and how good everything is out there.  Great again yesterday.

Correct. Texas star is this good as it’s been in a while

 

Cross Timbers in Azle is in pristine condition. Fairways and greens are as good as anything in the metroplex

Texas star punched greens yesterday and today, just called. I know rangers also punched yesterday.

Is Golf Fun or Work, do you disagree on punch being necessary? And why? I agree it sucks, but without it you're putting on dead grass the remainder of the year. Bermuda only grows a few months, then you are hanging on for dear life hoping it stays playable until it wakes up again.
