Surprised at all the low scores in that wind yesterday.

I was out there and the wind was brutal. One thing that helped scores was that 3 of the par 5's played downwind. Know of one guy that hit lob wedge for his 2nd shot of one of the par 5's.

Wesley Bryan had 9 birdies and didn't even birdie the par 5 that played as the easiest hole on the course.

The Bridges was nice today and the greens were rolling well.  The fairways could be cut a little more if i had one complaint.  I will say that if you are off the fairway by more than 15 yards or 5 yards to the bad side of the cart path you are in 2 foot high weeds.  Not the best for pace of play but that and the wind are the courses only defense.

Catching up a bit:

Frisco Lakes, still rebounding from punching but should be fine this week

Rockwood, Tight fairways but greens great

Gentle Creek, All very nice

Lakewood, so good.  Can't believe how they shot so low in the US Open qualifier

Up until about 5 years ago, the club I'm a member at had a reciprocal agreement with Gentle Creek. Love that course. Be interesting to see how things go over the years with Arcis Golf owning it now.

Report back on the condition as it had been a while since i played it.  Fun course with a couple of really good holes.  Still hate 18 though.

Played Creeks once with Asst Pro there.....he went way left, into adjacent fairway on 18.  It's a hard hole unless can carry lake on left.

Looking for some input. Another couple and the wife and I are looking for somewhere to play the weekend of June 11th and 12th. Both ladies are single digit high handicappers so they can get it around okay. But I'm still interested in how lady-friendly these courses would be.

The choices are either The Tempest and the Links of Lands End or Split Rail and Sugar Tree. We have played The Tempest and Links of Lands End but have never played Split Rail or Sugar Tree.

Looks like, per person, it's $168 for the weekend at Tempest/Links versus $113 for Split Rail/Sugar Tree but beyond that what are the pros and cons of both options. And, no, Pine Dunes is not a consideration due to their higher weekend rates of $119.

I was out there yesterday and it looks great.  I have played it 4 times and it is fun for sure.  So may good private clubs in Ft Worth though.  Shady Oaks, River Crest, Mira Vista, Regela to name them.  I saw the plans somewhere so i will see if i can find the link again and post it.  I also believe they pushed the renovations to 2023 but not 100%.

Wow, I had not seen that yet, thank you so much for sharing! Exciting times for those members, looks like an awesome plan. Thanks again!

Thanks for joining us today!  We played Tierra Verde and the greens are still slow but the bunkers need serious work.

Elite club and fun course to play. I would for sure try to get as much play time with your colleague as possible.

I also believe they pushed the renovations to 2023 but not 100%.

They did push it to 2023. There using this year (may 2022-May 2023) as a buffer to order all the supplies, do portions of the renovation that don't require closing the course, and get all the required permits. They said they would of been cutting it too close if they tried this year.

From what I heard it will only take 5-6 months on this new timeline (May 2023-November 2023) then will take about 4-5 months for everything to fully come in. Course will close after Colonial 2023 tournament.

21 million dollar price tag is the rumor which is crazy, Brook Hollow just finished there renovation recently (even have the same sub terrain green cooling/heating system that Colonial will have) but they only spent 11 million.

Jay,

You seem to know the West side courses better than I so wanted a suggestion.  Thinking of making a run out west on Saturday and of the 3 which would choose.  Squaw Creek, Sugar tree, or Split Rail?

CJ depends on what you’re looking for. Sugar Tree is a treat for sure. But really tight and short-ish.

squaw valley is more traditional. A lot like split rail. I would probably go to the brazos and play sugar tree.

but I am a split rail homer for sure.

Thanks for the advice.  They are wide open for some reason.  Will let you know if i make the trip.  Tempest is also an option or i might get lazy and play close.
