Driving to Lowe’s yesterday, looked like Bridlewood punched and sanded.  Tee off in an hour, so will confirm.

Ran faster than I thought they would, but pretty inconsistent.  Too bad, cuz they were just about perfect…but I guess that’s how they get that way. 🤷🏻

4 hours flat as a threesome…waited most holes, but I’ve seen worse there!

Finally got to check out Waterchase, really neat layout. Good variety of holes and conditions were not bad considering how dry it's been, greens ran great. The gold tees are about 6800 but it didn't seem to play as difficult/long as that number would indicate, probably due to some fairway rollout, I only had about 30 yards in on number 4.

9 was really neat with the waterfall. 17 is a long par 4 but they had the gold tees moved up, so I had to go hit a shot from where the tees would've been and of course I par the hole playing 450 but bogey my real ball from about 380 out 🙃

As the shortest hitter in my group I go up the left side at 17 leaving a 7 wood most days into the green. It’s actually more receptive for a long club into that green from that angle rather than the angle left going up the right side. On good days I can reach the 150 pole up the left side.

Can't believe you did not mention the worst hole in DFW, number 5!  You can hit it 150 yards or 250 off the tee and have about the same distance into the pin.

About my only gripe with the course would be that hole haha, just an "eh, alright" regardless of where you hit the tee shot. I'd say that risk/reward par 5 that follows it redeems it!

As more of a left to right hitter I'd say hole 8 played tougher for me than 5.

8 from the far side of the bridge is tough.  The approach is way longer than the yardage because of the wind.

I don't mind #5; just forces a mid to long iron into a big green, BUT I have heard they were talking about redesigning it since it can bring the #6 tee box in play if people hit driver for some reason.

The real worst hole in DFW IMO is Coyote Ridge #10.  Doesn't help that #11 right after it is also incredibly bad.

May not be the worst hole in DFW, but #18 at The Bridges in Gunter has to be at least in the honorable mention category.

Good call. To change the tone a little, what's everyone's favorite hole in DFW?

Being somewhat odd, I have to say the par 3 #14 at Waterchase is my favorite hole.  It's the ultimate good shots are rewarded and poor shots are punished hole.  Honorable mention to Colonial #5.

I'm new to the area and the forums and didn't want to create a new thread. Can anyone recommend any decent practice facilities along 75? I live near Highland Park for reference. Bonus if they do a night/lit range and has turf. I've been to Golf Ranch in the early morning which was nice so I'm willing to head up to Richardson/Plano. Tenison Park is close but I'm aiming for turf and not as crowded. Can anyone recommend if Highlands Performance Golf Center? That place looks legit. Just from looking at the google maps satellite view seems like Watters Creek is a lit range too.

Pecan Hollow has a great range, putting green, and a short course.

Also, don't sleep on Marsh driving range.  I prefer is over Highland performance if you are in that area.

^^ agreed. Been here 6 years in around the same part of Dallas, tried many ranges, and my regular spot is pecan hollow, then marsh lane. But pecan has a little par 3 for practicing as well, and is known for their greens. Highlands is fine, but has gotten over trafficked over covid and I’ve never had good grass conditions lately, and it’s expensive

Thanks all will check out Pecan Hollow and Marsh Lane. Related but does anyone know how difficult it is to get a walk up single tee time at Pecan Hollow at various times/days of the week? Really annoyed that I can't book as a single and even called to confirm. They just recommended walking up but I forgot to ask how busy it is.

It seems to always be really busy and especially on weekends.  I like the course but it is not one i would want to play all the time.  Many other courses around to choose from that you can get on with no problem.  That being said if you want to play it and have time to wait as a single you could get on.

Grapevine muni this afternoon for the first time in a while as we decided to play in the afternoon.  Pace of play was under 4 hours with a tee time of 3:40 which was nice but the greens were slow and bumpy.  Fairways and bunkers were great but the greens need another 2 weeks to heal from the punch they did.

Rockwood is as lush as any course this summer. The greens were amazing too. As always. It’s a coin flip as to those or split rail for the best right now

First time I've heard Rockwood described as lush, and I mean that as a compliment. That place is usually a racetrack. Good to hear they are doing well.

Just finished playing Waterchase.  Greens are back to what you expect here; good pace and great roll.

Played Coyote Ridge today in a tournament and it’s in awful shape. Borderline unplayable. The rough is up. The tee boxes are bare. The bunkers are all being fixed and the overgrowth makes it look terrible. I don’t know what sam moon and his $100 green fees is doing with the money but it’s just awful

Don't know where things currently stand with Coyote Ridge, but I did a quick search and looks like the M & P Group is managing the course. Thought Troon golf was but looks like they were only involved for about a year or so. No clue how accurate any of this is.
