I remember playing #5 into the wind, but I didn't notice that it is OB about 3 yards over the green. Does anybody know why it is marked as OB? Seams unnecessary to me since the ocean is just a few yards beyond the OB stakes.

couple of us have questioned that, much more than the ob at 1 ... might be their property line doesn't extend to the beach ... short hole, so going long wouldn't be much of a problem, i'd think ...

After the Masters, The Open Championship is head and shoulders above every other tournament out there for me. Love watching this stuff. And the realization is setting in that my sweetie and me will be in Belfast next Saturday (ferry trip) and on Sunday I'm playing in an open at Kilmarnock and paired with two guys from ------ Northern Ireland. So much to do, so little time and I don't care, I'm just going to watch golf - those bags will pack themselves.

 

Go Stenson! But kind of pulling for Shane Lowry a bit as well, would be a nice story.

Given the incredible success the Open at Portrush has been I wonder when and if the R&A will decide to host it again in Northern Ireland.

I know what it is for me. The tremendous elevation changes, just like the US Open, and the wild natural vegetation of the course. The course is perfect for tv and it has to be even 10 times so in person.

And that’s never going to change unfortunately. We have to suffer through this with every sport. Fortunately streaming options have given us some hope for change. I personally believe the over dramatization of sports dates to Wide World of Sports and Jim McKay.
