Any info on the Scotty Cameron Select 2020 line?

I’ve never understood the extreme craze over the tri sole. It certainly looks cool, but functionally I haven’t found it to work any better than other NP2 soles.

Site says mid to low toe flow. Cameron rarely does fully face balanced, usually with a little flow. But it looks to be the most face balanced of the special line.

It does aid if you hit it fat and yes that’s a real thing. Rounded soles tend to low point faster. Same as wedges that dig vs more bounce that does not. Putter stokes are different. I tried to putt with the new future line and cause I keep my stroke extremely low on the way back the very back of the Futura 7 dragged on me and I hit everything fat on the way back through.

Fat putts? What's the protocol on repairing divots on the green? Replace divot or fill in with sand/seed mix?

I’ve heard tour pros say things your average golfer wouldn’t understand, like Tiger. Guys on tour are extremely picky about grinds, weights etc. for different reasons that might not make sense to average handicap golfer.

Some reading for those who have never heard of skimming the ground before the ball on a putt. Many times from the sole grind, lie angle and too shallow stroke. I like to bring the heel up some like stricker and more upright.

I agree with this, easily seen on the Newport model I have. Not as predominant as earlier models but it is there for sure.

Judging from the pics, these seem a bit more “silvery” finish than the 2014 models (which is what I have to compare to). Anyone else getting that? Or is it just the lighting?

I'll put it a different way, if someone hits a fat putt it ain't the putter design that caused it. They're just a horrendous putter, have had too many drinks during the round, or otherwise had a mental moment. The selling point of a tri sole, soft tri sole, etc. is not turf interaction at impact!

I don’t understand how a tri-sole is better if you hit it fat. A tri-sole would have more metal touching the ground as it lays flat; where a rounded sole would only have one point (the bottom of the arc) touching the ground.

Says who, you? The selling point of the tri sole is whatever it does for each individual.

It makes you setup more upright for the flat spot to be flat, which in return makes your stroke less shallow or rounded which is a main cause of brushing ground early.

ive had lessons from very good instructors, one is a leading instructor in putting but this isn’t that hard. the tri sole helps with consistent setup because of the middle flat part. You setup with that middle portion of the tri sole and you aren’t going to be setup too flat with the toe too high. That’s main cause of brushing ground early on putts, your putter comes too inside on back stroke for an in to out stroke.

think of a hoola hoop and make it point in to out. Notice how the hoola hoop touches the ground very early.

LOL I have a ton of tri soles, I know what they are.

I just feel some are over selling it's benefit over other sole designs. I like them, they look cool, and it's nice too them back on the NP2.

Just gotta see the new newport 2 in person. I gotta be truthful, it looks incredible. Yes, I dont love the neck thing but it looks incredible at address. Love the new flange design, thin topline and lighter super fly milled face. Very solid release. If they make a long neck version I'd buy 2.

Already ordered mine yesterday after my local store let me test the lefty Newport 2. I own the 2016 select and I can confirm the sound/feel is MILES better. Feels so much solid and long gone is that "Squishy Feel/ sound" Instant buy for me, cant wait for it to come!!!! too bad the one at the store was 34, while I use 35. Looks wise, the putter looks smaller at address, which I also liked and the grip felt a bit tiny at first but after 30+ putts with it, I think it will work great. lets see.
