They’ve got to be hand picked or custom heads. Phil plays his 4 iron at 21° (stock EF 4i is 18°) his 5i is 26° (stock EF 5i is 21°). I went thru two EF 4i trying to get mine to 21.5°, if his aren’t hand picked they’ve got to be custom heads with longer hosels.

Think they might just be the 5 and 6 iron heads? He seems to be playing the 7-P in the Apex irons.

Somethings certainly funny here, I know he’s Phil and all, but jumping from a 9i at around 42 degrees to his 56 bent to 53.5 is 11.5 degrees. That’s a whole lot, I think something else is up here.

You’re correct, probably a 5 and 6 iron. But Phil plays his 5 at 26° (stock EF 5 is 21°) and his 6 at 29°/29.5° (stock EF 6 is 24°), so your still knocking them back 4-5°. So if he was just playing stock EF irons closer to his iron lofts it would make more sense to have a 6 and 7 iron but you see the 5 iron in the pics.

Does Phil still plays his irons 1 inch longer than standard? If so, is that also the same in his wedges?

Quite possibly a top two short game of all time and he has that much bounce on his wedges and a WIDE SOLE SW???? No possible way he’s a tour player with that much bounce. I can’t even get a 25 capper to stomach that much. He must be blading everything.

I’m not an MB snob by any means, but I think Phil should at least have some short iron MB’s in the bag. I don’t care that he’s nearly 50, he’s Phil Mickelson.

My guess is he’s playing the 21° 5 iron, and the 6 iron bent weak to around 26°, but still leaves a huge gap to the Apex Pro 7 iron. Maybe he has the 5 and the 7 in the Epic Forged? Interesting stuff going on in his bag.

I guess you're right. Massive gap between that 6 and his 7. Something like 24* in that Epic and then 33* in the Apex Pro, so there had to be some tweaking here. Always such an interesting bag with Phil.

Does Phil just love offset? 56 down 2.5 degrees....

But he bends it 2.5 degrees strong so it would only have around 10 degrees of static bounce. That's not out of the realm of normal. Also what is his dynamic/effective bounce at impact. That's more important then the number on the club.
