Oh I get it.  I’m just laughing with you by presenting the other side of it.

The whole snapping your fingers when you hit a shot too long. Drives me crazy when people do it for some reason. Almost worst than a change jingler, which is the worst.

There's a reason for it. It became somewhat normalised for the kids playing NCAA, etc. Gives them something to do to ensure they don't say bad words. It's a thing. It may be annoying, but at least there's a purpose.

I just swear. @#$% it.

shots on tv when they show you the ball flying in the sky are just useless to me.  Can’t see any reference to where it’s going.  They could just show stock clips and no one would know.

Breaking 80 is significant only in its relation to par.  It’s the multiple of 10 first in order above 72.

90:is one over par for each hole and a multiple of 10.

There are elements of the the apparently in golf.  Why 18 holes?

When you think about it though a par 4 of around 400 yards is a standard hole because a normal person who becomes expert at golf will typically score 4 on a hole of around 400, using a driver, an iron, and a putter, and a wedge for recovery if necessary, that is, using the entire range of clubs usefully available for striking a golf ball.  Nothing arbitrary about it at all.

Please oh please can we stop the "shafts don't change launch and spin" nonsense. I think this started off with some Youtubers kowtowing to that insufferable toff Crossfield and it has now become common wisdom.

If everything else stays equal, then a stiffer shaft will launch and spin less because of less lead deflection , as provable via robot swings. "Aha, gotcha" you say, "we don't know how a human will react to a shaft and the opposite may happen".

Yes, true. But we're quite happy to say that if you increase driver loft then your launch and spin will increase. There's no need to go into a half hour sermon about how you may react to the higher loft by leaning the shaft more and actually hit it lower with less spin because THERE IS AN IMPLICIT "ALL ELSE BEING EQUAL" around any variable that we change.

Miura is overrated and getting worse with each new iteration.

Mizuno isn't that buttery as people claim it is.

Buying new clubs should be about the raw data you get testing, fitting, etc. If a chunk of wood fastened to rebar gives the best results who care what it looks like?

As an engineer you should be able to appreciate the scientific fact that visual stimuli affect muscular performance.

95% of golf instruction (especially Instagram) is absolute garbage focused on small details during the swing instead of proper fundamentals that create a naturally consistent swing (grip, stance and posture).

Conspiracy take: the golf instruction world is deliberately confusing and focused on the wrong ideas in order to sell clicks, magazines and most of all, equipment

Do you apply that sentiment to all parts of life, or just golf? Cars, clothes, the new kitchen, sofa? Imagine your sofa, same level of comfort, size, fit, shape, utility, but it only came in hot pink, would you still buy it? What if the most fuel efficient, reliable and spacious car looked like this:

Ugly Looking Cars - World's Most Ugliest Cars in One Place! | HubPages

would you buy it?

I play golf to enjoy and relax, something that looks good to the eye heightens my enjoyment more than 5 extra yds or 200 extra rpm so I can carry it 4ft closer to the hole.

And lets face it, none of us has that level of accuracy anyway 🙂

Fair enough,

I'd say I carry that sediment in any sport/ activity, I'm just a competitor even if it's just me. Hell, I get crap from parents all the time as a football coach because we win but it's boring smh. I'm sorry if I'm getting 5-6 yards on a dive play all day, why the hell would I open it up.

Most other things you mentioned is a give an take for me. So I'm sure it is like that for people and golf clubs. Like I said just doesn't equate to my competitiveness.

I do think I was successful on the unpopular part 😎
