By this reasoning, nobody who has played any sport at any level should ever watch the professional version of said sport. To say that is moronic is being kind.

That's an interesting assessment of my post.  How did you come to that conclusion?  I don't recall saying that I didn't watch any golf as you're suggesting.  To be clear, I realize people watch the PGA Tour and I'm not going to tell them what to do even if I don't understand it.  I just don't want to waste my time on it.  I'll stick to a little viewership of the majors.  I even said my opinion was unpopular.  To each their own.

Very good points, and very valid reasons if you're a kid or young man.  I certainly watched my fair share of sports as a child, but as I've gotten older I've put away childish things.  I will totally watch a documentary on sports or business, such as The Last Dance to get that motivation and inspiration you so describe.  I've only got 24 hours in my day, I can either be educated or entertained.  I just don't have enough time or bandwidth to achieve the goals I have and to be deeply invested in live sports like the PGA Tour.

It's fine to have different priorities than others but I would hardly describe watching sports for leisure as "childish" in nature.  That is a pretty bold and condescending assertion quite frankly.

"Childish" to one, isn't to another. Adults / grownup men and women watching a professional sports isn't even remotely childish. It's people who enjoy watching professional sports. There's also really little difference between watching professional golf and posting about ones own golf experiences, as far as being worthy activities. 🤷‍♂️

So, hold on.  One guy knows not to wrestle a pig in mud...by experience I suppose.  And another suggests we shave it first?

I know it's 'unpopular' opinions thread...but this feels like life advice.

Anyway...my unpopular opinion is, driver is superior to any 3wd off the tee, so if you "can hit 3wd further than driver" or " don't carry driver because 3 wd is better" then your driver swing or driver fit isn't good...

And please, PLEASE, don't use the terms "game" or "gamer".

I play with my golf clubs I don't "game" them. It makes people sound like pretentious jackasses.

Agree. A lot of the YouTube club reviewers -- especially the non-U.S. ones -- use this, and almost all of them, at some point during their review, will say that the club they're reviewing "ticks a lot of boxes." Another pet peeve.

Unpopular opinion:  I don't watch PGA Tour golf.  I might watch some of the Masters or other majors but never a regular tournament.  I don't understand why men like to watch other men chase excellence.  I would rather be out there working on my game or in the house working on my game.  And before any responds that "they can do both", I have a hard time believing that Tiger watches the PGA Tour  when he's not competing.  But what does he know, he only has 82 victories and 15 majors.

I think most online club reviews are a joke. TXG atleast try’s to somewhat optimize the club they are reviewing for the reviewer. Other guys like Rick Shiels/ Crossfield etc mainly hit off the rack clubs and then compare #s to their fitted clubs.

90% of club reviews are useless for 75% of the golfing population.

I get this to a Degree. I too educate myself with a lot of my time. I listen to a new iPhone battery’s worth of podcast , lectures and Ted talks etc every day of my life while I work. That’s 4-5 hours minimum.

but the one exception.  Greatness in real time.     There’s that occasion when you see greatness live.  That’s really unrepeatable type scenario.  No documentary later will do that justice . So I pick and choose.  I’m not invested most weeks on tour. But certain times I can get there.  And I follow in my peripheral so I know when to  plug in.

You don't need a tour profile 3* open club face......you need to neutralize your delivery

I’ll play devils advocate-  why don’t you go on tour as a coach and straighten all those guys out ?  😂

sorry man. I had to.  I agree with you on the open face , because  I prefer a neutral face. But some guys need other compensations.  That’s why they make so many clubs.  What works for you won’t work for me. Etc. So you’re not wrong. But you can’t be All correct either.

My commented was really self deprecating humor - I was mostly speaking to myself - not tour players
