2020 Jones Stand Bags

Hi WRX! Still searching for a Stand Bag.

 

Need some help.

 

The 2020 Jones Utility Trouper Stand Bag.

 

What is the deal? Is it a Single Strap carry? Double Strap Carry? Or choice of either?

 

In the description on their Site....

"Simplified double shoulder straps"

 

In the details on their Site....

"Jones traditional centerline single strap with secondary double strap"

 

I want to be able to carry by Single Strap, a la Staff Bags, is this an option with the Jones Utility Trouper?

Yes, it has 2 independent straps. You can simple remove the secondary strap if you want.

@dmbrill719 I received my bag. Which strap am I suppose to remove to create the single strap experience?

The one WITH a clip at one end (no logo)?
The one WITHOUT a clip at either end (Jones logoed)?

The one meant to be removed is the one with the logo. But it's the smaller one, and I find the straight strap pretty bulky (on the original utility at least). So I actually removed the bulkier, straight strap and only use the slimmer, curved strap. I just attached that strap where the straight strap was.

Are these worth the $240? Can somebody post pics? I just got a brand new Datrek Trekker for $95 and I really like it... If I ever got the urge for something a little bigger, I was considering this bag or a Vessel. Both pretty pricey...

I think I ultimately figured it out. I removed the non logoed strap (I think that's what you did too)!

 

Once you figure out your strap situation, it ain't a bad bag! The amount of pockets, their respective locations, and functionality is top of the line, wow, in my opinion!

I just got one and racking my head over the strap situation, just can't get the bag to sit on my back comfortably, maybe cause I'm bigger than 90% of golfers and I'm an outlier on the design of this bag.

I removed one strap and use a carabiner to make it a little more flexible so padding ends up in the right spot

Keep messing with it. It takes a second to find a sweet spot. Don't give up, I'm 5'11" and 230, and I'm overly OCD for some reason with golf bags. You'll find it! It's a great bag outside the strap issue and once down to a comfortable single strap carry.

I think I got it, kept swapping strap positions, length, etc. Threw in some of my extra putters into the bag for some weight and I think I got it in a position I think is comfortable, once I get in all my clubs and gear in there should sit better on my shoulder and back. Also yeah I'm 6'3" and 300+ so this bag looks like a mini backpack on me. But I should be walking more rounds hence the new bag.

Definitely fit it with a bag full of gear in it.

Short answer Yes! They have so much storage, but very light and easy to carry. I personally like Jones better then vessel but you won’t regret it. I moved from a cart bag to this and love it.

Anyone know when Jones typically has sales? Labor day possibly? Black Friday? 

 

Also, does anyone know if the Original Stand bag has full length dividers? Trying to decide between the Utility Trouper or Original Stand -- afraid the top is going to be too crammed on the original.

Generally Black Friday they run a 40% off sale.

Hey Matt, I guess you got this bag fitting well in the end?  I'm a similar size to you and I just can't make it work?  Always seems too top heavy and like the clubs want to slip out. It's never in balance?  

 

Does anybody else have these problems with the Jones Trouper?  It's a perfect bag for me (no issues with midsize grips) as I like to travel light, but I just can't get it to balance.

I unfortunately have never taken it out on the course, I plan to this coming year, right now it's actually holding all my spare putters and wedges so honestly it might just be relegated to my spill over clubs. Is it dumb using a Jones bag for that? Yeah probably but I didn't pay much and unless I can find a staff bag cheap the Jones will be in that spot. 

 

Now if I do try it out and don't like it maybe I'll sell it but will have to wait and see.

The straps are a huge let down.  I loved the bag and the opening layout but having a uncomfortable carry is a huge issue.  Bag never felt centered, the carabiner strap with no adjustment on the front is the issue. You slide the second strap up and it throws the whole bag out of wack, I messed with mine for a week and said to hell with it and sold it.  Bought a Hoofer and never looked back

Shout out to JonesCo had had my utility trooper for about a yr the stand broke and they got me out a new one right away! Great guys to deal with.
