Help me choose a Vessel Bag

bward

Recommended Posts

I currently use a Sun Mountain 4.5 with 14 way dividers and would like to upgrade to a Vessel. However, I am unsure on model since I can’t see them in person, so any help I can get here is appreciated.

A little about what I am looking for. Almost all of my golf is from a Clicgear Revic push cart or in a cart. Despite not carrying, I do like a smaller bag over a larger one. I get to travel fairly often and take my clubs if it is in an area with nice courses. My travel bag is a Sun Mountain club glider, so I want to make sure the bag fits comfortably in it. I do not like 14 way dividers. I do not carry a lot of gear (9-12 balls, tees, a rain top, a wrench, rangefinder, and usually a snack). It gets very hot here in the summers and I often walk, so the ability to carry multiple bottles of water insulated is a bonus.

In general, people find the vessel bags a little smaller than expected if you go for the lite versions which seems like would fit your use case.  Otherwise you cant go wrong. Super high-quality.  I'm looking at getting a personalized one here before season starts in a couple months.

If you are not playing this winter, I would highly recommend waiting a month or so.  Most all of the vessel bags are almost completely sold out as are many of the major brands.  Should have some really good options drop in middle to late Jan.

Would the Lite Lux be too small on a push cart?

I can vouch for this. I have a Sunday 2, I get it supposed to be small but anything more than 10 clubs is really not worth fighting with. Small seems to be the trend through the whole line.

I use a Vessel Lite Lux in cream color. As others have said it is on the smaller side but fits all 14 clubs no problem. I like to carry and go minimal most of the time. I also have a Clicgear 3.5+ and when i put the bag on there I use a Clicgear Bag Cozy so there isn't any twisting.

I push 80% of the time and carry 20%. I hate non-stand bags. I'm currently using a Sun Mountain 3.5 SL... Would the Vessel players 2.0 be slightly larger?

Just received my Lite Lux in black.. great bag, but as some have mentioned it definitely is on the smaller side, especially the top opening.  Some have complained the top is too small, I see where they are coming from.  My standard set of 14 clubs fits fine, but it's a bit tricky figuring out where to put the putter, as it seems to fit best in the middle slot where the irons are.  Still, I'm keeping the bag, it's beautiful, great quality.  Living in NYC i like the smaller size.  It is stable for its size, which was my primary complaint with my former Titleist Players 4.  No pen holder, so i just put my sharpie in the ball compartment.  No place for tees, so i just put them in the range finder pocket w my range finder.  Bag also came w some nice extras - black Vessel towel, cart sleeve, and leg strap for when you want the legs to stay put for shipping.  Love the lack of logos.

I prefer bags about the size of hoofer lite or vessel lite. Saying that I bought a vessel lite last year in white, I thought it was a great bag except for the top opening. The top is too small but I suppose you could look past that part as its a good bag in quality. I ended up returning it though. If I had to do it again and was set on a vessel bag I would go players 2.0 for the reason mentioned above.

Thank you. As of right now I am planning on waiting for some Player 3.0 to come back in stock, or possibly going with a Shapland bag if I could find some feedback on them.

another thing came to mind as well, read about the durability of the bag material issue as well. I guess many had a problem with straps on a riding cart rubbing the vinyl material off after using a few times. They sell a sleeve to put over cart strap to prevent this but still, Vessel actually threw a free sleeve in my order when I mentioned the issue to them so kudos to them.

I like the 2.0 club organization better versus the 3.0 is the only reason.

I am coming from a Sun Mountain 4.5 and I would say my Vessel 2.0 is similar in size. I also ride on a cart at least 80% of the time.

Just had my maiden round with a Players 3.  So far I'm pleased.  I am coming from SM 4.5 and Ping Hoofer as my primary bags.  Mine came with the cart strap sleeve as well.  I ordered the 6 way top.  Plenty of room, no tangle at all so far.  Storage is slightly less than my Hoofer, but it has more than enough room to carry everything I need.  The apparel pocket is deceivingly large.
