How are things looking in Ireland for the summer?

I know it may be tough to answer, but what is the feel for the vaccine rollout and how long before things get back to half normal? Have a trip planned for eraly October that we were forced to cancel last year.

I think by October you have a pretty good chance.  I do think it will be end of summer at the earliest before international travel for golf is possible.

We already bumped our summer '21 trip to '22.

If we didn't get these new variants, I would say it looks good. However with the new variants and the majority of the world not being vaccinated until the fall most likely I agree that it will be doubtful. I hope as I have a trip to Scotland and England end of May that doens't look promising.

Our trip in September has already been moved to 22.  The tour operator told us that he felt like there was no chance of it being normal by then so we moved it.

My thought was that even in the extremely small chance a trip is technically possible (i.e. travel/quarantine restrictions and courses are open), there is zero chance that the rest of the stuff that would make for a memorable trip - clubhouses, pubs, restaurants, museums, castles, etc - will be. 

 

So to spend all that money on a destination trip only to be eating takeaway sandwiches for lunch every day and maybe room service at best for dinners? No thanks.

Looks like the vaccine program have started with plan to administer between 35k to 45k does per week. Hopefully it will improve sooner than later. They are in phase 5 through March 5th so that should help. Hoping for the best.

Wow...which Tour op? 

 

Odd, since many of the courses are currently NOT allowing postponement of current times....now that may be individual (not Tour) times.

Yeah, that’s what I thought. What’s the latest you are hearing from Dublin?

Same...nothing any time soon.  Members only on the courses. 

 

Personally,  I have been told to not expect to travel (for work) until 2022.

One we have used for 32 trips over the last 19 years. I don’t want to list them in case not everyone has the same agreement and thus it might cause them difficultly. Given our loyalty I imagine they were more lenient than others.

Recent contacts tell me it's a slim chance for the fall.  Likely to postpone our 2020 trip, from 2021 to 2022.  Hard to be patient.

I did just read that Golf is going to be opening back up in Ireland April 26th, so keeping my fingers crossed.

I have a trip booked for the first week of September. Talked to the tour company yesterday and they said some people are already moving their trips to 2022, but we decided to wait a month or two and see how things are looking.

We are hoping for the best. We are scheduled to go the last week of September. If they can pick up the pace of their vaccinations think we just might be ok.
