PXG 0211 Driver Review

I have!

Now I need to put things in perspective. I am about a 23.7 index who does not hit the ball far. CH speed at my PXG fitting was about 79 mph, so I'm not the typical WRX member who's scratch and bombs it 300 yards. Also the fitter was surprised that I do not have a lot of spin like most guys, so he didn't need to try to tweak things to get the spin rate down into the range he wanted. The fitting ended up with a 40g evenflow shaft and it's 10.5 degrees. I have been able to hit it on the range a couple of times and had my first 9 hole outing with it yesterday.

What I noticed right away when taking it out of the box is the weight. This is definitely heavier than the Adams Speedline fast12 I have been using. It's not some slight variation like the people that detect essence of moonbeams in their wine would be the only ones to pick up on😉. I think the heavier club head is good.

My miss with almost all clubs has been a push/push fade for months now. I rarely hit a true slice. I also rarely hit a draw like I used to( took about 7 years off from golf and came back in late 2019). Pulls are also rare.

What I found yesterday was I was hitting true fades. For example, on #4, I aimed left because of my push/push fade tendency. I hit a high fade that started left of my target line and curves back to it, so I ended up just in the left rough. On #6 where I tend to push fade almost OOB, I caught the ball thin but again it was a true fade that stayed in the fairway instead of finding someone's yard. There were 3 exceptions of course. I shanked one ball, so crap swing by me. I had a pull but it was in a wide open fairway, so I was fine. I'm not sure what caused this. I had a push fade on #9 but my ball position was a bit back. I noticed it at address but being a dummy, as always, I swung at it instead of backing out and resetting.

Height of the shot, except the thin shot and the dubbed shot, were all very good. They were all solid with good height.

Distance - I'm not sure what to say. I've only hit it 6 times on the course. It's still winter golf with dormant fairways that are longer than they will be once they start mowing them tighter. The conditions were mostly dry and it was 70* out but there was some wind. Arrcos had my two best drives at 209 yards which is about right for me. My distances are a bit helter skelter. Some days i can poke it out there 215-230 and others, it's 180 - 200, lol. So I am not shocked by the lack of distance. Also 6 shots is not much to go on.

One change I have made because of this driver is to tee the ball lower. The fitting did not use a tall tee like i'm used too. I also do not want to put idiot marks on the crown.

My early thoughts? I'm real happy with it. The ball flight is big for me. I don't care if I hit a draw or fade. I just don't want to be hitting pushes/push fades. I'd say the same about a pull/pull hook but those are rare for me these days. The fact the ball starts left and comes back around is great. I think this will be the biggest gain I get. It will take a while for me to get the full advantage of this, assuming it hold true. I do not want to think i'm all set with a fade and aim more right and start launching them into the right trees, lol.  The fitter thought I'll get a little more yardage as well but we're not talking anything huge. I won't know until I play more with it and conditions improve.

I will try to remember to come back and comment again after I get more experience with it.

Very glad @Myherobobhope suggested I take a look at PXG because of the sale.

This seems like a better priced, cleaner looking and less “tingy” sounding Ping 425 LST. Interesting how even with the one low and all the way back weight, PXG has been able to keep spin down, especially on low strikes.

If I didn’t have a Gen4 on order and a Proto+ in the bag, I would pick one up to test. From the top looks very symmetrical like the Proto. Good stuff.

I have one. I like it, but i feel its significantly shorter distance wise than the SIM i came from. And my SS is around 95 so i am not a long hitter to begin with.

I have a Proto+ head coming that i am going to compare to and keep whichever one i feel is better.

Your going to love the Proto+ head when dialed in. It’s my gamers and long as not longer not shorter than my TI SIM and SIM2Max

Hopefully. I was fitted for the 0211 but when i went i hit the 0811 Gen2 and the Proto+ and the 0211 gave me the best numbers. However the fitting was just using the same shaft. Not any weight tweaking. I also was having a terrible swing month but didnt want to re-schedule. I ordered the weight kit but ill be able to test the head this weekend at least with the stock weights.

In my initial PXG fit it was apparent in stock configuration with my gamer shaft tested in both along with the Diamana S+ Limited 60X, the 0211 was better. When we moved the heavy weight to the toe port it was a little better with the Proto+ and then when we spread the weight around a little to the toe and front port, the Proto+ was superior on that day. We are not talking 20-30 yards...it was more like 8-10 yards average but the launch angle and spin was much better for my game. We were able to stamp the center face location over and over (9/10) with 14-15 degrees launch and just under 2400rpm average with the Proto+ that had really helped my tee ball.

Today I just ordered 9* left handed head. My swing speed and ball speed was about 2-3 MPH higher with a no upcharge shaft. Will be putting an Accra TZ6 45M3 shaft into the head. My current SW is about 92MPH, total distance around 235'ish, and I am 74 years old. Hoping that the combination of head and shaft will add 7 - 10 yards to drives.

Replacing a Honma XP-1 9.5 degree head.

I wanted to bring this topic back up since I've played 2 rounds with my new 0211 driver.  First off it's the best looking driver I've ever seen especially not in bright sunlight.  The shaft seems shorter than other drivers I've used in the past.  I'm a slow speed swinger even by non-golfwrx standards, but I get a lot of height from excess spin I'm assuming.  My drives look good in the air, but I get very little roll.  The first hit from the PXG scared the crap out of me.  It was a loud crack.  I'm coming from a Cobra F9 with a very muted sound (which I absolutely love).  The PXG seems to get the same carry distance, but with a lower trajectory.  I get pretty good roll when it hits the ground.  Maybe it's the honeymoon period, but so far I'm really happy with the PXG.  Not crazy about the sound, but if it performs like the first couple of rounds then I can live with it.

I bought one for my son, 9th grade high school golfer. 10.5, project x hzrdous yellow 60 S. He loves it. I played it today for 9 holes, shot 40 despite only hitting one fairway. That being said, this is one of the best feeling/sounding drivers I have ever hit. I am considering one for myself with a 70X, or one of the proto's.

Anyone have any feedback on the 0211 fairway? Looking for a little more launch and less spin from my Proto 3 wood. Everywhere I have read it says the 0211 would fit that ticket.

I’ve replaced my Bridgestone JGR driver with the 0211 10.5 riptide cb shaft. The first few rounds I was thinking of returning it. But worked on my swing some and stuck it out for a few weeks and I’m glad. I’ve gained a little distance and like the looks and sound a lot. I’d say it’s hard to beat for the price .

I got one 3 months ago. Lucked into a brand new one, in the box. $200. I replaced the shaft with a 44" Project X Evenflow 50 gram CB R flex. Scored, big time. Im 65 and right now a plus 2 golfer. Freshly rehabbed from 2 fractures in my lower back. Worked my a** off and playing again. I can easily carry this club 225 yards. Very little fade on my strikes. Worth it? Yes. They are around $250 now. Get fitted, get one and be pleased. I was on the verge of getting fitted for a Titelist TSI 2 when this appeared. Not just the money, the club is worth every penny it cost and more.

Hoping someone can give me some insight I don’t want to do a shaft upgrade. Between the Diamanti S+ and the Hzdrus Smoke Yellow. Which would be closest to matching the Ping Tour 65?

Played the Ping Tour 65 in a G410 driver. Have the Diamana and the Hzrdus Smoke for a 0811 driver. I’d say if the two the Diamana is closer. Though a little less stout that the original, the Smoke is still “boardy” (to me).

Hmm...I would say the opposite; I would not ever put the Diamana close to the Ping.   Having played both, the Yellow feels  most similar to me.   I may go try them together to see again.

I say this mostly because the hzrdus is a low/low and the ping tour, for me was lower launching than the Diamana. My recollection is that the PXG Diamana is has a softer tip.
