What'd You Shoot Today?

91 today. At the end of last year I was down to a 7.9 and at the start of the season I had high hopes of great scoring and lowering my handicap further. I played my first round of the season on April 17th and have played 29 rounds since then. Every club in my bag is new this season and my handicap as of yesterday was 13.3. I spent all winter buying new clubs and reading reviews and compiling a game plan and working on my putting indoors and my handicap went up almost 6 strokes. LOL, what a game we play my friends. As of today I am going to stick with my current bag and go back to working on my game and try to get back the strokes I have lost. Changing clubs hurt my game for sure. End of rant. :)

Nasty, nasty, nasty weather this morning. Very humid and wet; typical Shanghai summer.

Broke the MacGregor Muirfields out of mothballs for an early 9 holes. So small compared to the 33s but a lovely sensation through the ball.

3 over but should have been about 5 as I got lucky bounces twice.

Hope you guys are enjoying better weather.

Milo.

I played Olde York Country Club in New Jersey yesterday for the first time, an awesome day for golf. Shot 79 from the Blue tes (about 6500), made 3 doubles and a triple, most due to lack of course knowledge. The course had a nice mix of short and long par 4's and 5's, where knowing the course would have made a 4-5 shot difference.

Of course blading an 76 yard L Wedge over the back of a par 5 to make an 8 did not help. The greens were punched only a week ago, and still rolled better than my home course greens.

despite a grip change (weakened) and a putting stance change (more over the ball)... I broke 80 for the first time in many rounds...shot 79..

oh and I was 4 over the last 4 holes... really ran out of gas.

July 3rd- shot 81, best round of the year and the only one in which I used a push cart. I normally carry my bag and by the 16th I am feeling tired and not as sharp mentally. Yesterday using the push cart I felt 100% better coming down the stretch and finished birdie, par, par. I think I will look into a push cart.

Went out to twilight golf with a couple buddies at a course we used to play in High School matches. I shot 29, first time I broke 30 and had the time of my life. I hit an 8 iron to about 6 inches on the first hole par 5 from 181 (super down wind). Course was only playing 3,080 yards and pretty much wide open, its a relatively new course but has absolutely perfect fairways and greens. My card was 333334334 which included 2 par 5 eagles....my hands were shaking on thre 4 foot par putt I had on 9.

Just finished my first ever round at Cog Hill #4 (Dubsdread) - home of the Western Open/BMW Championship. For the next 4 days, the course is set up like it was for last year's Western Open (rough is nowhere as bad, but the extra set of tee boxes is there). According to the scorecard, the course played at par 71 - 7160 yards (75.4/142). Wound up shooting 87 (6 pars, 9 bogeys, 2 doubles, and 1 tripple) but should have done MUCH better. The 2 doubles and the tripple were completely unnecessary - nothing more than lack of concentration. I can see why Tiger loves to come here ;) The length was NEVER an issue, and if you keep it in the fairways, it should be piece of cake for the pros to go really low.

9 Hole league today. Shot a BORING 35 (par). 9 straight pars in a row. I've never done that before. Not that I haven't shot par before, but I've never done all pars. Usually it's a couple bogeys, and birdies to make it up. I only scrambled on 2 holes, missed every birdie put I looked at. Could have been one of those low rounds ya dream about if I could sink a put. All birdies were with in 15' or less. Nothing would drop.

I played yesterday and it was HOT! I wanted to quit after 3 holes but hung in there and drank a lot of water. I hit my driver like a pro. My irons were pretty good. My chipping was great, and my putting was fair. I shot 75 with 2 birdies....39 & 36.

The main thing is that I won $2 from my buddy, mostly because he followed up an eagle on #14 with a 9 on #15. He was hotter than the weather after that.

First post in this topic! Look forward to many more. Anyways, I'm a golfer who averages right around 80, and have been struggling with my ball striking all year, especially the last two rounds. Had a 79 and 83, but hit four greens a piece and my short game caught fire to keep the score low. I decided to change from a baseball grip to an interlock grip, and try to finish with my knuckles up to stop the hooks.

I shot a 77 today, with 7 greens, 9 fairways, and 27 putts. It doesn't seem like that much of an improvement ball striking wise, but my home course has small greens and most of my misses were around the fringe.
