Reading back, I think I’m going to order a Gen4 XF 10.5 Monday to compare to my Proto+ same shaft and set up swing weight the same for my own edification. The wrx in me is telling me I need the new paint job…and AV carbon back in my life.  

Yes, you do need AV carbon back in your life. Can’t wait to hear about the XF for you.

I think the Proto+ had some ears last night…she had a great driving round today at Las Sendas. Will sleep on the choice and let you know Osprey…

Haha. If you drove it well there then that is saying something. 
 

Struggle for me with the new shaft this morning. I’ll keep working on it. I need more weight in it to get where I can feel the head more. Definitely less left and right misses in the Pro White.

Its a good driver test course for sure. I only missed one fairway when using driver just into the second cut, all were out there. She is dialed in for sure. If you need any weights to try let me know. I got em all lol.

I took out the 2.5 and added a 5 to see. Going to hit some balls in the morning before work and see. I just need some range time with it to dial it in. Thanks man.

Sold Sim Max and just ordered gen 4 X with riptide even flow cg 6.0. Hoping the shaft works for me, we will see...

I can't wait to get fitted for my Gen4 X. I have it scheduled for July. Curious to see how it performs to the Sim2. I hit the Sim2 the other day and did not find it to be anything special.

Switch to the Gen4 x from the Proto+ and after one range session I am glad I did. Much more powerful off the face and can see that it is lower spin. Love the crown now and the way it sets up.

Is it worth $200 more.  No absolutely not.  I just got a whole bag of gen 3 0311 and proto hydbrid fairway and driver.  We hit both, no difference for me.  Plus i think the 2 tone top was a huge mistake.  It makes the club look tacky and cheap ( thats just my opinion, but looks are important in golf, you may love the two tone top).  

 

Unfortunately the protos are no longer sold, and i got mine for a smoking deal ($199 for the driver).  

 

Same with the gen3 vs gen 4 irons.  There is no difference unless you have a slower swing(weights can help more with launch).  Even their comparison on the page proves that.  Compare gen 4 t to Gen 3 p (they are the exact same loft between those years, same ball speed but gen 3 spins more, which i need, 20 degree launch with 5800 spin are my 7i numbers).

 

I would guess the biggest difference between gen3 and gen 4 is they have been able to reduce the cost of manufacturing.  No toe weight in the metals, single material in the iron head.  Performance may be marginally better (i couldn't tell), with a proper fit its doubtful.  But its great news they are reducing manufacturing costs without sacrificing quality or performance.   

 

PXG has the best combination of feel, performance, and forgiveness on the market, you can't go wrong with their clubs.  The gen 4 is as long as the sim and as forgiving as the g, if you are buying a driver $299 is a steal compared to $500 for everyone else's driver.   For that $200 savings i'll live with the top colors.   

 

It wasn't long ago, that if PXG was the same price as TM or Ping we would all buy it.  Now its cheaper.  What are you waiting for?  When the black box arrives you will feel like a kid on chrismas morning.

Just got fit and picked up the 0811 proto x+… 

 

Went up against the gen 4 and 0211. Not a noticeable difference actually 0211  and Proto preformed a little better for me dispersion wise than Gen4  and  I thought sound was harsh on 0211.

 

Price was insane $199 for proto x+ with the hzrdus smoke 70g shaft.  How can you beat that!? Looks like the proto is out of stock now too…
 

105-108 swing speeds. 245-255 carry roughly edging out my rogue by about 7-8 yards but higher toe seems to be a hot spot on this thing because I would seeing some insane numbers there 260 carry at times. Dispersion was the main player here and lie angle adjustment as I have the occasional hook over draw with the rogue.

I'm curious what people are thinking now with PXG prices having come down so much....Proto drivers $249 and Gen 4 $299....I'm currently playing a sim max, thinking it might be fun to try the gen4 xf...only available in 9 degree now, I'd have to loft it up a bit as I currently play my sim max at 10.

I switched from Sim Max to 0811X and very happy I made the switch. It’s just as long and my misses aren’t nearly

as bad.

I have the 0811X Gen 4 and it’s 10+ yds longer than the TS2 I was playing for the past few years. For $299 it’s one of the best driver deals going.

Unless you are looking for a higher launch, more spin with a very minimal amount of slightly more favorable forgiveness, the X will do you good.  My 9* degree X and Proto X both launch perfect for me and roll out forever. Actually I'm seeing a consistent 10 -15 yards more distance with the X over the Proto. Right now I'm switching between the GD AD BB and GD AD HD low spin shafts, the ball just goes straight on these heads.

Just noticed on the Canadian site that the Proto X+ is on for $179.00 ($132 usd) but only available in 12*. Anyone hit the 12* and if so was it launching too high?
