Laura Baugh (at 65 years of age) tried qualifying.  Here is the +53 score.  How does a 2-3 handicapper shot 100?  I ask already knowing the answer.

Good article on Laura Baugh and her attempt to qualify.

I believe FOX will be covering the USWO and Juli will be working the event?

What is the under/over that Juli brings up the above when she interviews Whan who will be on site.🤣🤣

Will Joe Buck be nearby to break up the fight?

I know you're very smart, but being out of date is still out of date!  NBC purchased the right to USGA from Fox last year.

If you don't know, 2020 USWO was played in December and televised by NBC, Golf Channel, and Peacock live streaming.

Enter as a pro….no handicap requirement.

Inkster is  65.  They tend to special exempt those a wee bit younger.

Bianca P finished 16 strokes behind Cheyenne,

Bianca got a bit of media attention in 2020 because of her distance and when she finished well at the Drive On and KPMG events, but otherwise, she hasn't faired all that well in her other LPGA events.

She also has low LPGA priority status....2021 status is the 2020 status due to the pandemic.

Cheyenne Woods is a mystery; she rarely played well at LPGA tournaments, but often excelled outside of it.

True, but I think that's most "fringe" pros (which is what she is I guess).Meaning, most pros when they play in tournaments play worse because there's pressure. So they shoot 65 a lot in practice, but can't do it in the tournament.

Basically, how bad is your worst shot. Where as, some people think, "if I hit my best shots all the time, I could be a prob"

I can't think of a more pressure packed tournament than US Open Qualifier; where in two rounds you need to be the Top-2 to earn the exemption.

Yet, Cheyenne passed it with flying color!

I wish I knew the answer, but I don't.

If Cheyenne wasn't Tiger's niece...no one would talk or write about her.

Have you ever heard of Hayley Davis or Eun Ju Lee?...I thought so....lol

Current Rolex Rankings

469 Haley

470 Cheyenne

471 Eun Ju

Congrats Ms. Woods on qualifying.

100% agree. Cheyenne only has the Nike sponsorship, and probably all her sponsorships, because of who she is related to. That's a different subject though (discussed a lot in the Theard about what the LPGA tour needs to get more money).

My point is, even 470 is ranked pretty high. So if you played a regular round with Cheyenne, she could probably drop a 67 pretty easily. But once the lights go on in a tournament, different story.

Every time I see Sophia Popov on a leaderboard I think of players like Cheyenne Woods.

And wonder how many wonderful players are on the fringes just waiting for a chance, knowing they have the skills to compete.

I then wonder how many of these ladies are walking around, having never made it on the tour, and thinking about what might have been.

For these reasons, I always root for Sophia.

Not able to sell out limited number of tickets for USWO at the Olympic Club!  Is it lack of respect for women's golf or COVID?

I do wonder how much promotion they've done -- I follow women's golf far more than the average potential patron and I barely have seen anything about fans being allowed.

Otherwise, I'd go COVID.  Seems like the announcement was late, hard to make plans.

Promotions are second nature to both USGA and the Olympic Club; they're good at it and they've promoted this 76th USWO as much as any other golf tournaments I know.

The weekend tickets sold out long time ago and I'm sure they will sell out Thursday and Friday too; but it's been a disappointment.

Anyone know the USWO qualifier results from AZ today....I looked at the AZGA site...no luck.

Seems like Gerina registered as Gerina Mendoza....,maybe she's no longer with Martin???...he seems like a bit of an oddball.

I maybe wrong...but I think Gerina didn't care much for Martin when they 1st met.

I have thought of late that losing her card was the best thing that could have happened to her. Popov came here and beat up on the Cactus Tour gals and seemingly got a huge boost in her confidence.

But I really cannot agree on the players on the fringes.  If a women player has the chops she will get there. A player like Woods has repeatedly proven why she is on the fringes.
