History: This is the 37th year for the event. In 2020, Danielle Kang came from five shots behind with six holes to play to win her second straight tournament. Lydia Ko had the lead going into the final hole, but a costly double bogie spoiled her day.

Another so-so field this week. Looks like Jin Young, Nelly, Sei Young, Hyo Joo, Lexi, and Lydia from the Rolex Top 10 are sitting this one out. 

 

Weather looks iffy on three of the four days with t-storms possible.

 

TV coverage is atrocious. One hour on Golf Channel on Saturday and Sunday? Two hours of late night replay on Thursday and Friday? C'mon. The NBC Sports app better work.

I'll be out at the tournament on Thursday and Friday. As usual I'll post photos when I get a chance. Since In Gee and Hee Young are skipping this one, I'll probably hop around and check out numerous groups. Definitely want to follow Brooke's group, as well as Danielle's. I figure if I start on the 1st hole and follow a group for three holes, and then hold for the following group, and can watch up to 12 groups each day. Should provide a good mix.

Played Highland a few weeks ago.

 

The course was fast and firm and the green on #2 (11 as the ladies play) ate me alive. Hopefully the weather behaves.

A total of 114 players participated in pro-am outing today, that's a massive undertaking.

 

The greens are Poa annua/Bentgrass, Stimpmeter rating of 11.

Although Fassi has the 500/1 odds, this is in fact the site of her only career top 10 finish. She tied for 9th with 11 other players. Can she do it again?

Current Golf Channel schedule shows an additional two hours of LPGA coverage on both Saturday and Sunday evening from 9-11pm EST.

I'm going to go with Danielle for the repeat victory. She's had two 5Ts in her past two starts, and with a week's rest she should be ready to defend.

 

I wouldn't be surprised to see Emma near the top. Good finish for her in Texas, and she finished T5 here last year.

Good point. I watched her over 20-24 holes on Saturday and Sunday at the VOA. Her tempo and temperament are off the charts all-world. Such a simple swing motion and course management skills. Worthy to follow!!

Had the pleasure of meeting Jaravee when she played in the WAPT tournament at our course about a month ago. Very nice young lady. Hope she plays well.

Yes, most/all Thais that I've met through the years are extremely nice, whether it be professional/amateur golfers, businessmen/women, classmates/schoolmates, etc.. (I guess if you're a caddy to some pros - not going to name these pros -- you might have a diff opinion though haha).

I'll get to the course at 7 am tomorrow, and then start my hike at the 10th tee with Alison and Su's group. I'll be able to drop back and pick up Esther/Giulia/Mel, So Yeon/Nasa/Brittany, Ariya/Danielle/Inbee, and Rachel. That should fill out the morning wave. 

 

In the afternoon I'll start on the 1st hole with Emma and Kelly at 12:48 pm, and drop back to pick up Matilda/Paula/A Lim, Moriya/Angel/Amy O, Megan/Yuka, Brooke/Jessica/Jennifer K, and Bianca. 

 

It's going to be a long day. Lol. The forecast looks iffy. T-storms possible in the early morning and through midday. Umbrella is mandatory equipment.

I went to watch a USGA Women's Am qualifier here yesterday...saw some good and lousy shots.

I saw Namdalla V2....but she unfortunately had no game.

 

WTH....play was SO SLOW....common with these young Am's.

A group was already warned by the 6th hole...many many groups were 1.5 holes behind the group ahead.

After 90 mins I got bored and left to play golf.
