Nothing feels like a Mizuno

That is exactly why I went with Srixon ZX5's Awesome feel Endo forged is the best. Now with the new 923 JPX Line even the Hot Metas feel every bit as nice as ZX5 and zx7’s

When feel gets discussed, I'm always reminded of a story told by Brother Chisag...

 

Two guys on the range.  One hitting Hogans, the other hitting Mizunos.  The Hogan user mentions recently unloading Mizunos because they felt mushy and indistinct, and loved the feel of Hogan's.  The Mizuno user mentions recently unloading Hogan's because they felt hard, and loved the softer feel of his new Mizunos.

 

It's all "seasoning to taste."  One person's too spicy is another's just right.

 

Personally speaking...  I own Mizunos and also have a considerable stash of Golden Rams.  Ram Tour Grinds are somewhat towards the Hogan end of the feel spectrum in the above story.  When I played wound balls, either classic wound or Maxfli solid core wound, Mizunos were too soft, Rams were lovely.  When I used firmer balls, Chrome+, ZStar XV, etc, the Mizunos were great, the Rams were borderline too firm.

Indeed. It so happens that my preferred golf club feel is somewhere between a marshmallow and mercury at room temperature so Mizuno seems to fit me well 😂

It's not just about feel & sound of impact. Brands set themselves apart with the "in the hands" feel. It's subtle but there. You identity and bond with that.

A great deal can be boiled down to "what you're accustomed to."  

 

That's part of why I play the Duo Professional golfball.  All that wound ball usage that I had, it's hard to get away from that feel.

I am a new Mizuno owner. Being left handed limited me to either the SELs or the hot metals. Well got the hot metals today. They remind me of my titleist AP 1s. Very understated look. Not flashy like my ex wife who loved to cake on the makeup or my Mavriks  . Can’t wait to give them a run on the course.

Ya know, I'm a total Mizuno homer since my high school baseball and volleyball days, but in between the handful of Mizuno irons I've owned, the Z785s were every bit as sweet feeling as the MP's from the early 2010's.

 

The MMC set I have now are great, but every now and then I still wish for the past. The MP-53/63 set I owned a while ago was the most addicting feel I've ever experienced in golf clubs. They looked great, sounded AMAZING, and absolutely exploded through grass. 

 

A sneaky-great set of irons was the JPX 825 Pro. That was the last of the pre-boron cavity forgings, and although they wore down fast it was like a GI experience with great feel.

Mizunos are nice, but I think this forum overrates them. I wouldn’t mind playing them again though.

 

Best feeing irons I’ve ever hit were probably OnOff with Miura second and Mizuno third.
