I don’t know about that.  The SEC is propped up by Bama and a year in year our mix of one of either LSU, Florida or Georgia.  Top to bottom the SEC is not that strong.  I’d take the top 5 Big 10 teams over the top 5 SEC teams.  
 

The thing the SEC has that no other conference does is the backing of ESPN.  They prop up the conference to make it look like every team is Bama when in reality they’re mediocre at best

I guess I’d completely disagree.  
 

id wager that year in and out you could have a 16 team playoff , include 4 sec teams and come out with 2-3 in the final 4 50 % of the time.   The sec cannibalizes it’s own most years.  2-3 loss sec teams are usually equal to a one loss anybody else during the year.  But by the end they’re all working with many 2nd and 3 rd string guys due to injury.  
 

Good example is the ole miss Baylor game last night.  If the ole miss QB hadn’t been injured for the 30th time this season that game goes differently.  Baylor only had 4 first  downs in the first  2 and 3/4 quarters.  And zero offensive points.  A pick 6 off the true freshmen backup qB is their only score.  No way the starting future nfl top pick doesn’t score on them in the first half.  Why was he on a gimpy leg that was then hurt again ?  Sec linebackers have been jumping on it all season.  
 

my team saw the same.  Although we ( usc ) are in what seems like a perpetual rebuilding process , it’s still telling that we went through 4 quarterbacks this year due to injury.  And it’s not from lack of beef up front.  
 

put it this way.  The Michigan team I watched vs Georgia would have a hard time with somebody like Florida , ole miss with the starter , or Texas AM.   And neither are top tier sec teams right now.  
 

and Cincinnati.  I don’t understand them being in at all. I watched them play against EcU , and the pirates gave them a fit .  They had 2 scoreless quarters.    We’re talking  a relatively tiny school .  And they only give up 35 points on a supposed fast top 4 offense ? 
 

i guess I’ll shut up.  But the point is.  You can’t rank them based on wins and losses when they’re eating each other. The only way to know will be to put them up against the others and see. I personally think the politicians of the playoff system are afraid to do it based on what I suspect will happen.  At some point if 4 sec teams made it into the 16 and were seated one each in the 4 corners of a bracket , you would eventually get an all sec final 4.  This would cause a PR nightmare.  
 

I just don’t see how it has  anything to do with espn.  I don’t watch espn much.  And I see tons of sec games.  TV time isn’t the deal. It’s recruiting , records , plus climate in my opinion.  Warm weather helps a lot.    Fast forward to now , and your best path to the NFL is through the south.

Instead of editing I’ll add.  For my eye.   Notre Dame is one of the teams that got screwed this year.  They should have been in ahead of Michigan or Cincinnati.

Eh, outside of Bama and Georgia there’s not an SEC team that would be favored over another conference champ…maybe no even over another runner-up…well maybe Oregon.

 

Ill give the SEC 1 for sure and maybe 2 in a year but beyond that I’m not seeing it.

I agree as it is they won’t be favored. But.  The issue is the credentialing.   The only way to know really is to pluck them from one conference and place them into another.  Rankings are based on uneven playing fields.

Didn't take long for the zebras to hose Georgia.  It was a fumble, scoop, and TD.  His arm moved forward because it was being crushed be the defensive lineman not by any willful move by the QB.

Depends.  If you’re OG Clemson fan. Sure. If you’re a recent hire since Dabo , well it’s touch and go.  I live in SC and holy crap the bandwagon fans are outrageous.
