2021 BMW Championship

A pretty weak field....but ya can't blame many pros on the no show.....quite a distance to travel for 1 events and with the pandemic....who wants to fly for 1 event so far away.

 

IMG used to pay for the pro's expenses for the Asia Swings....I think they also got some expense subsidies for a companion (caddie and/or family member) too....I wonder if IMG is paying for expenses for this one event?

I assume the field will also include 20+ KLPGA pros too?

 

I think many players might not bring their regular loops.....the Koreans will have an advantage to find loops....I wonder how many GOOD bilingual loops are available?

Many Korean courses are very hilly...I assume this course is hilly too???.... with female caddies who simply drive the cart, clean clubs, fix divots etc.

It will be a race to secure the course's HP or golf professional staff who are willing to loop.

 

I wonder if Tina or Namdalla have secured Dean "Chin Strap Face Mask" Herdin yet?.....if JYK doesn't bring Brooker....JYK should try to steal Herdin.

I think Dean is married to a Korean lady and owns a restaurant in S. Korea???

 

I'll go put on a limb and predict a KLPGA pro will win.

My dark horse pick is GIMMEE.

The weather must be nice in the Windy City.

@Argonne69 normally starts an official LPGA event thread by Monday.

So after hitting the links today...he might have gone on a pub crawl of all the new micro breweries that just opened up.

 

I think no fans will be allowed...so it will be boring to watch.

 

No screaming Namdalla Attack Girls or Flying Dumbo's yelling KIMCHEE in Ha Na "The Hulk" Jang's back swing.

 

Hopefully the LPGA gets it right and pairs up The LOVELY Hee Young Park with her baby sis the Mini Rocket...some times she goes by Ju Young Pak vs Park...though I think there is another KLPGA pro that is actually Ju Young Pak...one of them needs to be called Lucky 2.🤣

 

BMW got it wrong...they should have invited Yoo Hyun Joo and Ha Neul "SKY" Kim...I understand Ha Neul just announced her retirement?

I don't know about you all, but I'm going Ga Ga over this tournament, with a Song in my heart. Actually love seeing the best of the KLPGA fronting the LPGA players

 

How many of you watched the Hana Bank tournament a fortnight ago? Minjee, playing a straight-away 3-shot par 5 in the play-off, failed to birdie it 3 times in a row. 3 wedges in, 3 putts, 3 pars. Actually, it might have been 4 times in a row, including playing it as the 18th. So just when you'd think she has the monkey off her back she does that. I am interested to see how she goes this week.

With coverage at 930pm and zozo thereafter, plus NBA opening week, MLB and F1, I think the coffee maker will be on high alert starting Wednesday...

I watched some of it via a live stream.

Yup...Minjee gagged 4 straight times with a par on 18.

Her congrats to the winner was SO INSINCERE....didn't even look the winner in the eye....Minjee seemed like a poor loser....maybe this aloofness by Minjee explains why she doesn't have a TON of fanboys.

 

So does Minjee fly Jason to Busan for just 1 event?

 

I wonder who 'greased' Dean "Lampshade/face mask chinstrap" Herdin onto their bag.

Gotta believe Tina is the hands on favourite. 

 

If I can stay up I'll watch the live stream again...otherwise I have a GC delay.

I saw an Instagram picture of JYK and her "coach"....but she was a bit too "close" in the 2nd picture with the guy....is "Coach" in Korea...a secret code for BF?...if yes....JYK is being distracted....so her odds of winning are lowered IMO.

 

The KLPGA is very strong with lots of tough competitors.

IMO....the KLPGA should be the LPGA's developmental tour....I bet the top 15 KLPGA pros would not run into much difficulty maintaining and keeping a high level LPGA playing priority

I hate to agree with you on this. Her reaction was very poor. She seemed way more absorbed in her loss than Ge Eun Song's win. I can understand why she felt that way, based on her failure to deliver, but she should have sucked it up and behaved with a little more grace (or a lot more, actually). I didn't want to bring this up, but since you have - I agree!

 

Dean Herdin is a great caddie. I don't know how it works in terms of who gets him. He was instrumental in getting JYK over the line in Adelaide in 2018.

Hyo Joo Kim for the W. Nanna K.  Madsen for dark horse. Hopefully get to see some unfamiliar faces during this event. Always happy to see Ha Na Jang tee it up, she's played pretty well this year, maybe a back to back for her.

Good question. At #14 in the world, the highest ranked non-LPGA member in the Rolex rankings, she definitely has the game to be playing on the LPGA. I guess we'll find out in a few weeks when the Q-Series entrants are announced.

I'm going with Min Ji Park this week. I mean, six wins on the KLPGA this season? She hasn't won since July, so perhaps she's due. A win would sure answer the Q-Series question.

 

Hyo Joo should be in the mix. Ha Na withdrew a couple of weeks ago due to injury. Not sure if she'll be in form.
