Paging @Forged4ever 😃

My good friend should be able to provide you some insight regarding past (and maybe even some current) equipment choices of Sean Knapp and Nathan Smith.

This would be really cool to see. I’m assuming you’re in the mindset of “what do the best players in the country that aren’t pros and are the same age as me play?” This would be a lot more meaningful than seeing what a TM or Titleist sponsored player is using…granted, it is still cool to see what’s inside the pros bags.

Parziale played in the NE Amateur in town here at the course I used to belong to.  I took note because I was impressed with him at the US Open.  Looked like he was in a TSi3 driver with Ventus black, Tsi2 3 wood with the same Proforce V2.  I couldn't make out the driving iron, but it looked like he had moved to T100 irons and SM8 wedges, and a TaylorMade Spyder putter, I believe its the SR model?  The No. 7 style head.

Hi,

What does the top Mid-AMs play?

Have seen plenty of pictures of Stew Hagestad's equipment, but would be curious to hear what e.g. Nathan Smith, Scott Harvey, Matt Parziale plays. Also interested to hear what some of the older amateurs play now (e.g. Spider Miller)

Harvey plays a TSi3 driver, a 917 fairway, T100’s and some old Cleveland 588 RTX wedges and an Ardmore 3. I’ll see him later this week, but he might ask me why the hell Im taking pictures of his bag

Oh and it’s in an absolutely beat to hell Seminole bag last I saw him before he hurt his elbow

You would be surprised..  Played with Nathan Smith at Sunnehanna Mid Am - Ping G410 irons -3 PW, don't remember wedges or FW woods.  He was testing a 47 inch driver..  Since he is not forever long - he played very smart - whatever club hits fairway and middle of greens.  Impressive to watch

It would be cool to see some of these guys' bags. I would've thought there'd be more "old school" clubs, especially irons (i.e. 712-716's, AP2s, etc.), but surprised to see they're very similar in setup to tour guys.

One of my gauges when making a 1st tee box assessment of a guy is his irons.  If I see a guy with well worn 712-718 MB's or AP2's in his bag, I'm not putting money on the line until we play a few holes.  Haha.

Before mine were stolen from my truck, I played 712 MBs.  Hustlers can recognize another hustler in a hurry.

Brad Tiley likes to share his WITB often on his IG. Great mid-am from the Met section

When it comes to free stuff the gravy train has dried up but access to stuff at cost or discounted is not too hard to get if youre in the top 3000 WAGR or scratch players rankings

Made 32s at the US mid am last year if anyone wanted to see my WITB im happy to share.

Post it up. And congratulations on making 32's that's a heck of an accomplishment!

Not gonna pretend to be a good golfer, but did qualify for this year’s Mid-Am. Former collegiate tennis player who plays golf occasionally.

Here’s a picture of my WITB and a breakdown:

Rather then rewrite my signature I’ll go into the details about my gear:

  • I play my clubs 2.5” flat cause I’d rather die than see the ball go Right to Left.
  • My clubs are 0.5” short cause I feel like clubs are too long to begin with.
  • Play standard GP Tour Velvets with 2 wraps.

My buddy hooks me up with UST products and while I know it will sound like schilling:

  • I highly recommend their products, specifically their new Lin-Q lineup!
  • Also when they fully release their Dart Lineup I think it’s as good as the MMT lineup that was targeted at better players.
  • My current gamer putter is a Long Neck Custom BB8C in honor of my Mom that details out my family on the sole with the new UST All-In Putter Shaft.

Like it man--- I see a little lead tape tune up---- Yep I would say you know what works for you

How do you like the Oban Devotion in your driver.  I have the Tensei and I like it ok, but it tends to go a little left on me sometimes.  What else have you tried and how does the Oban compare?  Thanks!

I love it, Granted it was in someones backup driver that was given to me. I've played it a 2017 epic for the last two years. The epic wasn't able to be beaten out by anything new until the Triple Diamond came around.

Super stable and smooth for what it is. I hate a left miss and haven't had issues along those lines. My fitter had me in a ventus black was the closest thing. Wasn't a fan of the Tensei white at testing, but a 1k Orange sounds interesting. Also just picked up a Kai'li white to mess around with.

I love that you know your exact specs and own them.  At 6'4"+, my back hurts playing anything shorter than +1/2" long and now that I've gotten old I'm up to +3/4 or +1" depending on the manufacturer's standard.  But agree that clubs have gotten too long across the board.  Even at my height I play standard lie or maybe 0.5° up which equates to 0.5 or 1° flat at standard length.

Congrats on the Mid-Am.  That is no small feat.

The top mid am's aren't too far off from tour players in what they play. The OEM's take care of them just the same as they do tour pros. The only difference being is as a mid am you'll see more one offs in the bag. Taylormade used to own the mid am game, they would give away everything. Over the last 3-4 years Titleist  and Callaway have made a big push. I've seen more and more guys switching to Titleist. Some observations, the top guys don't switch clubs. You'll see old drivers and older iron sets. They know they work. Mid ams rarely show up with only one putter and some top mid ams (especially one from Miss) isn't afraid to switch mid tournament. If most of these guys could putt they wouldn't be playing the cocktail tour. Most can wedge it with anyone!!!

Who are you talking about from Miss.  Joe?
