Cool.....wonder if they'll have a shot at a Mens, Women's, or Sr. Open🤔.....I suspect it's not a spectator friendly venue but 🤔

Does anyone know the exact date when 2025 Sand Valley tee times open up? I read in earlier posts that people thought January or February '24? I'm on their email list but wanted to make sure I didn't miss the open date. Thanks!

There's no exact date from what I'm aware of, just make sure to check your email everyday during those months.

It's crazy how hard it is to book there, the demand is unbelievable. #ShrinkTheGame. But everything about Mammoth Dunes *seems* (I haven't played there so I can't say for sure) to be what RESORT golf should be all about. Wide-ish fairways and golf that is interesting without being overly punishing. I would assume this is why so many people line up to play it? I may still just take my chances as a single and see if I can get on out there late summer however I would be flying up there so that is a bit scary to risk not being able to get a tee time on Mammoth (I think I would be happy to play ALL my rounds out there).

@vandyfan have you checked their reservation system online. They allow you to book golf only tee times these days.

I was able to do that last summer. There are usually a couple of tee times available per day. It can be tougher to get 2 that work well for 36 but as a single you should be able to make it happen. I entered 2 random days this July and they had an opening or two each day.

You can also sign up with the dates you’re interested in and you will get an automated email if something becomes available.

Did get confirmation from the reservations team today that Sedge won’t be open until Mid July or so. Unfortunate to miss it as our trip is in May. Guess I’ll have to go back sometime!

I called and heard the same, which is a bummer for my June trip.  This seems somewhat conservative, considering parts of the course were open middle of 2023.  But I guess you can't blame them for protecting it as much as it sucks

Yeah I guess. Though this winter is supposed to be one of the warmer in a while for them thanks to the Nino. Ideally should have some great turf early in the season if it does in fact end up being a light snowfall winter.

Light snow isn't always a blessing. Not enough snow cover increases the chances of ice forming on fairways and greens and that is really hard on the grass.

We've got basically the same weather and Wisconsin and the supers here worry more about ice than snow.

Yeah, it seems we always have the worst greens at our home course when we don't have snow cover.

As bummed as I am about Sedge not being open for my Memorial Day trip, I saw firsthand a course that opened before it should have in Brainerd last Fall.  The Lehman course at Cragun's had no business being open and a solid layout suffers from poor conditions with greens and fairways that aren't yet grown in.

That happened yesterday NE Wisco ....closer to the lakeshore (Lake Michigan), as the big snow amounts did not happen, basically a mixed precip with no accumulation for 10+ hours yesterday followed by 5 hours of snow amounting to about 2" of snow on top of slush/ice.  Not sure what happened in other regions, but it appears much more accumulation occured across the state, but not sure if that was alao on top of mixed precip/slush/ice.  Many years ago a head pro at a prominent club said to me ice is very bad for the course, snow is good as it provides a layer of insulation!

If you need a grinder to make your weld look good, you are a grinder not a welder.

My hold time was about that and got through. Hopefully you were able to as well.

I did and to my surprise 2 of the 3 days we are there were completely booked, unreal. Managed to get a time for the day of arrival.

Thats not what I was expecting at all! Figured with the relatively low number of resort rooms it would be easy for people with existing reservations.
