plenty- look at the component companies- or do you think every golfer gets all their equipment from the companies that sponsors pros?

Most ams can't tell the difference in performance between non-conforming grooves and condition of competition conforming grooves, so there is a very limited market for non-conforming grooves.

 

I can assure you that if a condition of competition driver is adopted for pros, and the club head is decidedly smaller than 460cc, and the face is not as springy, there will still be a market for the the "modern" driver (460cc, .83 COR).   So non-condition of competition drivers will still be produced.  Heck, the USGA might even relax the specs for recreational golfers, and a new market will develop (distance sells).

Bold statement.  Neither Maltby or Wishon make non-conforming groove wedges.  Which component companies are you talking about?

Monark golf, hireko golf, diamond tour golf, components plus.   Do a search for component golf heads and a number of companies appear.  Many of their heads are not submitted for USGA testing so by definition do not conform.  Some will even note they are non conforming.

MG golf even sells a senior ball they claim is non conforming.

Not submitting for approval and not conforming are not exactly the same.  For the most part, very few component makers are advertising the sale of non-conforming equipment.  It is a tiny market at best.

I don't think that can be done.  There are companies now that will shave a driver face, but they also note that higher SS's will break the face.  Increased COR won't make a driver go straighter.  I've said this many times, but if the RB's force OEM's into building tour specific equipment, it will be the recreational player who literally will pay the price.  There is no mass market for a 350cc driver with a .8 COR, but there are costs to build them.

That's an incredibly snobby, old white man country club thing to say. 

Might be crabby & salt of the earth but it's not a snobby attitude. I will cop to being a snob on golf balls, always used the expensive ones even if my game was not worthy. If anything  I'm repulsed by the infomercial aspect gear has imposed on the game. Most of my bags cost $500 for all 14. Been that way for 25 years too. My irons are 32 years old,  my putter cost $40 was NOS from 1997, my #5W is King Cobra deep face. I carried a Mc Henrey Metals driver till 2013. 

My rant on Zumba may seem judgmental but if I'm tired of having to hear "golf is hard".

 

Yeah and........ 

 

Hard is funding retirement, putting kids through college, helping loved ones on the final journey. Golf is never hard because like all sports there's no real consequence to any of it. So save your anger at "the man " for something a little more worthwhile.
